Guess I'm a late comer to Dandy's site, stumbled across it about 5 years ago. I've been reading it ever since and recommending it to all true LSU fans I encounter. I was sorry to read the post by Scott this morning. I wish DD the best in his fight against the big C.

Sent Scott a note this morning. Hope he kicks this.
I start trying to pull DD early every morning until it's posted, just to see the latest word on the Tigers. Geaux Dandy.

Dandy Don worse?
Can someone give me some biographical info on Dandy Don? i.e.- where does he live? How old? What occupation? Etc.

All the best to you, Dandy Don. Prayers sent.

Didn't read the whole thread, but is there any way he could be recognized in TS before the game or between quarters, or having him on the field for the team coming out of the locker room before a game?

I know there are many huge fans of LSU football, but there are very few 'blue collar' guys without big money connections that are any more well known than he is to the average Tiger fan.

I played LL BB with Scott, and competed against him when Dandy was his coach. Dandy also coached me on our all-star team in Laffy.

Don is salt of the earth, and classic Louisiana man of his generation.

Scotty was undersized as a 12 year old, but Don taught him a nasty little curve ball. Don was a son of a bitch as an opponent, as he was competitive as hell.

Scott ended up at Acadiana, and I at STM; aside from that, we were a grade apart, so mostly just aquaintences, but we did attend LSU at the same time.

So, with my "nice story, bro", I just want to say that the Longs' are solid, and I'm not sure there is a bigger LSU fan than Mr. Long.

I will gladly make my first post on the site letting Don know he is in my thoughts and prayers.

A remarkable man who has given so much to us fans! For many years now he has been the only real information I get on LSU down here in SoFla. Time is scarce, but I
always find time to go to Dandy for all the poop! His excitement and enthusiasm for the program is unmatched.

Thanks to Scott and all his hard work. Keep it up and best to Dandy!

I think that would be an excellent idea. The whole stadium would show him much love.

Please do it before it's too late!

I've been reading Dandy Don for years. Most of his long time followers feel like we know him even if never meeting him in person.
Even if we often pick on his optimism, the guy has dedicated a good portion of his life to getting us average fans valuable information on all the major LSU Sports.

So true, and I think Dandy Don himself has too much pride to ask for sympathy, but I think he truly deserves it. The only hint I ever saw he was having problems was when he mentioned about going to MD Anderson in Houston a while back, which told me he is obviously having issues. He is not going to tell us how bad he is feeling, but I think his son is basically telling us to expect the worse. I truly hope he lives to see another LSU Championship, and I wish I could have met him, they really should hold some kind of benefit for him to meet everyone, if he is still able. Prayers are truly sent...
