I've only been on this board since 2009, but I was against Miles since Tennessee 2005 like many others were. I posted lots of Miles "hate" when I joined and realized that wasn't going to fly with most of you. You were here gobbling him then and likely in 2005. Weird how you a so many others were so infatuated with him. You're being shown how wrong you were over and over. A few of you were extra crazy with your Miles love.

Lloyd Carr coached at Michigan into Jan. 2008 bowl game

I repeat, Les Miles was never offered the job. Never. You dont have to believe me, he said it himself
quote:

“I love Michigan,” Miles in an interview with Detroit News. “We just didn’t have the opportunity. It does break my heart. I love the place.

“It didn’t work out and I’m sad that it didn’t.”

Miles went on to say that “roadblocks” got in the way of him taking the job in 2007. He doesn’t come out and say it, but it sounds like influential people in maize and blue were against him taking the job. One of the people rumored to be in the anti-Les camp was Lloyd Carr.

“I don’t know that I was ever really close (to getting the job),” he said. “I was fortunate to be at a decent place. It didn’t work out and I’m sad that it didn’t.

“It did not have to do with the amount of money, it had to do with the decisions that would be made on behalf of Michigan if in fact I would be the head football coach. I just needed some backing and some strength. It was probably too far away. It’s certainly a place I loved. Sometimes it’s just not in the cards.”

My argument was not that Les Miles was or wasn't offered the Michigan job. There is nothing to ever suggest he was. I'm not even arguing that Les Miles wasn't blocked by an emeritus coach-

But that coach was Lloyd Carr. Bo Schembechler had been dead for a year plus. He wasn't involved. Adding "so and so" cheated arguments is stupid. Carr didn't want Miles. Carr blocked it. That was it. Adding this ghost of Bo from beyond the grave influence is idiotic, just like the whole "Bo died so he could watch the game from heaven" bullshite when he died right before the 1v2 game.

And Michigan lost. Heaven Bo doesn't have that much clout. Don't make shite up. Miles wasn't offered the job because Miles and Carr don't like each other. It was on fricking SportCenter that Carr didn't want Miles to be his heir.

Otherwise I'm sure Ghost Bear was pretty fricking pissed about the Mike Shula hire too in that case.

Bud Wilkinson wished death on Schnelly and John Blake and Bernie Bierman has been turning over in his grave for the better part of 80 years.

The Miles to Mich rumors were Les agents attempt (with permission) at getting raises. And it worked. Twice

his original contract guaranteed he’d become highest paid in country if he won a natty.

he was getting that raise even without Michigan job being open.

Bertman offered the raise BEFORE the game as an inducement against the rumors. In fact, Bertman has been quoted as saying Miles told him that he turned down the job offer to Mich, due to the LSU offer
quote:

Skip Bertman revealing a lot from behind the scenes. Michigan did offer Les Miles the job + more money. "I swear to God it's true."

A job offer that was never offered

Miles is scum

Don’t say his name. The Midget is not welcome on this board.

Not a good take.

Les won us a Natty a month later, and got us to another one in 2011.

Now, if Arky could have persuaded him to leave after 2012, that would have been perfect timing.

If Miles leaves for Michigan after 2007, we likely end up with Bo Pelini, Jimbo Fisher, or Will Muschamp at head coach.
