He was better known for his recruiting, PR, and motivational skills. His coaching skills received a lot of ridicule.
He was never a great X’s & O’s guy. Any attempt to paint him as such is revisionist. The real strategic brains of those teams were Art Tolis, Rick Huckabee, Tex Winter, and especially Ron Abernathy.
What Dale COULD do was motivate the shite out of his teams. That 1986 team was depleted by chicken pox and the loss of Nikita Wilson halfway thru the season and Dale still managed to plow them thru to the Final Four.
Also, I still maintain that if Rudy Macklin doesn’t break his finger in the regional final against Wichita State, we win it all in 1981.
Credit where credit is due.

Every time I hear Dale Browns name, I can't help but think of Bobby Knight looking across the court and seeing Dale Brown, knowing "we got this one".

Basically because he did not win a national championship. I get that he won multiple SEC titles, went to the big dance 13 times in 25 years, but I just don't think its enough to have a permanent part of the arena named after you
Now list what LSU basketball did BEFORE Dale was there.

All we needed. Thanks for your compliance.

Can someone explain the Dale Brown hate?
He's an arrogant prick who thinks himself bigger than LSU basketball. He and his crew spent years undermining John Brady and finally pressured Alleva to hire the worst basketball coach in modern LSU history.

Fragile feelings. Nothing more.

Pistol Pete brought major college basketball to LSU. Daddy Dale kept it there.

Would have made a lot more tournaments if they rules weren’t different as well

Before Pistol Pete, the cow palace was a quarter full. 1000 to 1500 fans. After Pete arrived, PACKED. Standing room only. Daddy Dale helped keep Pete's Palace somewhat full.

Dale is a hypocrite. He hates wade bc he’s not a good ole boy and bitching about the ncaa sniffing around is hilarious coming from dale. He was dirty as hell and got nailed for it.

He had some significant accomplishments and was very charismatic, but he also did not win when he had some of the best talent in the country. He went to 2 final fours but never a final 2. The 86 team was really just getting the most out of average talent. When he had Shaq, CJ, Roberts, vernel, mo Williamson, and other top talents, he couldn’t win shite.
He was also responsible for leading the program into major NCAA sanctions.
I was at most of the great games in the 80’s and loved the deaf dome, so I’m not anti Dale Brown. Dales accomplishments are worthy of a banner, but certainly not worthy of a court being named after him. He was good, but certainly not great.

About what kind of relationship he has with Brown? Yes, I heard that.
I gathered they don’t really have one. So?
How is this some kind of indictment of Brown?
