Next time you see him on the golf course ask him about our 6 game losing skid to Alabama.

I ran into him at the A&M game and he was pretty cool. Some old A&M alum came up to us and asked if he had played football, to which he said yes. The guy made some passing remark about A&M previously having success against LSU. DJ said "well I hate to break it to you but I'm undefeated against A&M." CSB

Edit: the way I worded this makes him sound like a douche. He was very unassuming and down to earth and only made that reply to the guy after the old guy had been ribbin him a minute or two

Maybe you should have played better.

He can forever claim he started over Kendall beckwith.
... that's about the only thing he can have etched in stone.....

You make it sound like he's the only one to blame for the losing streak to bama. I'm sure the young man played to the best of his abilities. It's a damn shame we had fans that pissed all over the guy while he was playing and now there are still "fans" that want to continue to bash him.

He was the truth! Beckwith learned everything from DJ.But, goodness, the talent difference was major. Welter got blocked so easily. Beckwiths talent was extremely more noticeable.

Blame the coaches. For "their" reasons, DJ started and not Beckwith.

"They" moved Beckwith to DE. This hampered his learning the LB position AND the play calling responsibilities.

DJ did his best, and at times, that was not good enough to defeat some teams. He had teammates on the field with him, and they lost as a team. He is a Tiger, and should be respected. To continue to blame him is cruel and juvenile.

I have never been more upset with Chavis about his decisions to sit Beckwith and D. Jones.

He did get the most out of his 2 star ability...should have never had to start. I blame both him and coaches.
