Tell.me.this, and be honest...what did you think of his character when he failed to be at a meeting his BOSS demanded he attend?

I thought it was stupid, but he did it on the advice of an attorney.

quote:

He didnt attend, and rightfully was fired.

He was retained after that incident, which was with Alleeva the first time around.

He was fired, I thought rightfully, when the NOA came out and was said to have had allegations he did not reveal to the athletic department (the word was he had told them there was nothing else that would come out that they did not already know about).

I do not think he is a high character individual. I do not think any current successful basketball coach in the NCAA is a high-character person.

When Dick Vitale started singing his praises while he was at McNeese and likely headed for NC State, it showed me just how dark the underbelly of NCAA basketball was (I knew already, but that was even seedier than I had imagined).

As such, I will root for him to succeed, and I will not take shots at him because he is basically in the same position Lane was in at this point in the portal cycle. I'll reserve judgment until people start committing.

quote:

BTW, while your shining his shoes, who did LSU have to beat out to hire him? Who else had him high on their list?

What does that have to do with anything? LSU wanted him back. They got him. It's kind of understandable because his stretch here was better than any coach's first 5 years in LSU history. Only two other coaches had better 5-year stretches at any point: Harry Rabenhorst and Dale Brown. From an LSU perspective, that's being numbered amongst LSU basketball royalty.

BTW, while your shining his shoes

This sort of stupid stuff is why no one here takes your man of honor BS seriously. I supported McMahon until it got too bad to support him. That's how my fandom is constructed. I'll do the same with any coach who isn't doing egregious things outside of how he leaves his previous team.

If I'm really bothered by his character, I'm certainly not going to try to bait and attack other fans on an internet board.

Which is what you did to me. I can think any way I like about him. I never took up for McMahon, except for his character.
Somehow, ypu choose your thoughts as being higher than others. Not the case.
Split hairs all you want about his being a bad person and getting his arse fired because of it. The underlying factors remain...same as his leaving NCST. Same person, same character.
Im a fan, just like you. I can think and say my beliefs, and its not for you to attack, but you did. And what did you attack...my comment about players following him. Not like you said ..that I was attacking fans, etc
Just disingenuous.

I hate the hire, I dont think hes a good character guy, but I do hope LSU wins every single game next year

No, it really ISN'T a ridiculous statement.

Every single successful coach in the 2 major sports is FILTHY in one of 3 ways:

1) They cheat themselves (most likely Wade's method at LSU);. he didn't seem to have the infrastructure in place, (Dale SURE AS HELL DID).

2) The school/boosters and not the coach handles the illegal recruiting. These are the type of coaches that have simple idiots like you fooled. Coach K, Hurley, Tony Bennett, etc... yep, those players they get go to school JUST for room, board, and tuition.

3) The coaches utilize a combination of the above: Pitino, Calipari, Sampson, Pearl and a HOST of others.

How do I know this? Common sense, but even more than that, I've spoken to over a dozen top HS assistant coaches and EYBL HC and assistants over the last 20 years when I attend the events.

There is NO SECRET among these dudes. It's a money game, and every single top HS recruit with RIDICULOUSLY rare exception, is paid under the table to attend the school of their choice.

To a man, EVERY COACH told me Duke was the worst (or best, however you look at it), at buying players. Dorks like you believe Coach K walked on water. Go into an EYBL tournament spewing that bullshite. They'll laugh you right out of the building.

I guess you prefer that coaches give the "appearance" of being honorable?

Almost every coach would do what Wade did if a better opportunity presented itself to them. And so would your HYPOCRITICAL arse.

Say it however you like, he was a dumbass and got caught.

Please show me where I say others didnt do it, ill wait. Others didnt get in a jam the we this moron did. At the time, it brought bad things to a program if caught, like idiot wade.
A big help was usually to get out in front of these things. LSU tried and things happened and idiot lawyered up, and ignored his boss.
So for several reasons, in that times environment, he was rightfully canned.

Coach K, Hurley, Tony Bennett, etc
I hate them all, dickwad

Nope. He's a low character moron. I wouldnt have handled anything I did ILLEGALLY, like a 1 yr old prick.

He fricked up, no one else.

So now we've peeled back the layers on your "holier than thou" attitude and realize that your "ethics" are bullshite (shocker!!), and you just don't like Wade or LSU basketball which l knew all the time. It ain't about doing the right thing with you, it's about your coach not getting caught.

Also, don't kid yoursel or the rant. If you found yourself with an offer that raised your pay 63% with bosses that you KNOW you can trust, your hypocritical arse would bolt like lightning.

You irrational pricks are SO EASY to expose.

LSU basketball is in tatters. Nwoko is gonzo. And Dedan Thomas Jr is heading to a MBB power, University of Houston. And no one of any significance has been recruited to replace them.

It's like the parable of talents being played out in BR. To him who has little whatever he has will be taken away

It’s week 1 of the portal. Hardly anyone has signed. Wade has a history of being a roster construction and scheduling savant years ahead of others. LSU with supposed improved NIL and a motivated Wade unlikely to finish outside the top 20 in transfer rankings when it is all said and done. With McMahon’s history, we know rankings don’t necessarily translate to on court success, where Wade again has also excelled, especially at LSU.

Even if Wade whiffs in the portal, which I think is highly unlikely, we’re obviously in a much better situation where Wade at LSU has the best record by far of any coach here in the modern era. There is a 0% chance he wins 3 or fewer SEC games and finishes with a losing record next year, which is where program was without him.

Sure you didn’t. But let’s say you’re being honest (you aren’t) how in the flying frick would you know ANYTHING about McMahon and his character? Do you work with the basketball program? Have you asked him if he’s ever paid players like every coach in the last fifty plus years?
You’re one of quite a few sad posters on here. I feel bad for all of yall but then again maybe living in a fake world is better for you simpletons

McMahon and his character?

Short bus half wits like you only know character as a work thing. Just like your actions here, I see your flaws beyond being a fan.

Name other things McMahon has done, maybe with respect to other programs, personal choices, insubordination, low class emails...etc.....anything

I know for a fact players got money under his time here...but NIL is here.

Hate him all u want. No worries here. He was not a good winning coach here, but carried himself with dignity. Until I know different, thats what ill use as my guide.

You gargle ww's balls for some reason. Great for you. Lick em clean, bitch

I will add 1 thing. Players reactions (not taking their skill into consideration)....M leaves, and players start leaving sometimes signals they really respect him, OR hate the new incoming guy after meeting him. No clue what's true....but signs are there.
Also, I think I've read "maybe" 1 guy wants to follow wade here....that also worries me (although kinda early)

I hope LSU wins every single game next year. That means I hope Wade is the most successful coach in America.
