No, I think he's saying that other people assumed it would be easier to run b/c they all thought Lee was a far-superior passer
May be too early to pass judgment on this.
Also, it is foolish to think something else could not have contributed to more yardage on fewer running plays last season, such as 2 speed sweeps that Russell Shepard housed. We have run that play once this season with OBJ.

No. That's not what I said. I wasn't even trying to imply that.
Fair enough.

Also, people may be overlooking the play call and the passes Mett made. Not to take anything away from his game, but it doesnt take a Joe Montania to throw the quick screen.
So why Lee does not throw screens? I know why.

Coaches don't trust him. Thays why. Plus does not have the arm Mett has. You have to throw that pass with velocity and get it where it needs to be real quick for it to be effective.

Then why does he start, if they trust Mett more? ETA - and why would they air it out to RR on the first play of the game?

What pass doesnt have to be thrown with velocity and doesnt need to get there real quick?

Fade route and corner routes. There are touch passes thrown over the shoulder that drop in.

Velocity is required to get the ball where it needs to be on those routes. Gravity is a bitch.

Well said.
I think Lee would be much further along if Miles would have given him more snaps last year when he seemed to be the only one throwing for TD's.

Haven't been able to post much due to deployments, but I'm back and was able to watch the 1st two games.
To answer: The chances Lee gets replaced are slim. I agree with everyone on that, but look at two plays and you will see a difference.
1. JLee throws to DPeterson right side endzone for TD. Nice throw but watch Lee instead of the throw. He feels pressure and slides back and away while throwing. Good understanding of pressure, but not good process. Ends up with a bit of air on the throw. That won't work well with better corners. Still - good throw and good talent.
2. Mattenberger throws to I think it was Odell in flat. Pressure coming, he steps into throw, delivers a zip strike, then gets crushed by blitzer. THAT is the difference.
Watch Mett's JC highlights. Same thing.
Tom Brady stepped INTO multiple blitzes against Miami and paid for it... Also threw for a billion yards. Not comparing these two to Brady, just as a reference.
FWIW - if Lee was to just say "screw it" get mad and just step and let it fly, I think he'd have better results and more trust. He is a very good qb. And I know his completion rate was good versus NW State, but that was NOT a good defense.

He actually did this more in 08 than he does now.
There is a highlight video of him from 08, and he clearly is putting more into his throw.

Agree +1000. Only game 2 though and he hasn't had to play from behind. He was pretty good in the clutch last year. Maybe he needs that "fear of failure" thing that happens in those situations which allows someone to put result over bodily harm... Ha!

We have 7 more rush attempts after 2 games this season than we had in 2010 and a 100 less yards gained than what we had in 2010 after 2 games.
That's because a throwing QB will move the defense out of the box.
I'm content with both our wins and the QB play to this point in time.
The only real difference I see in the LSU play from 2010 to 2011 is we have only 2 T/Os in 2011 as opposed to the 6 we had at this same point in time in the 2010 season.
Well, that and the fact the plays seem to be getting into the QB quicker this season for whatever reason.
I think we will have a much better idea bout LSU after the State game.

Okay so I know how ruthless you gentlemen are but I would love to see Lee redeem himself this season. How sweet would it be for him to take this team to the NC and win it all. No one would remember that bad season where he held the record for Int returned for 6. And we all know how well the Tigers do with the mediocre caucasian QB (Matt Mauck 2003, Matt Flynn 2007....Lee 2011??) I guess we will see

the difference is in 2 games, in 2 drives with less than 5 minutes to play before half time, lee is 6-7, 81 yards, a TD throw and the other was a TD.
that's the most important 5 minutes of the game when you have the philosophy we do (great D/SP, good running game). that's where you get back in, or stomp the throat in a game. it's underrated and that itself should give him the starters role.
