Others are forgetting the opponent all together, and simply look at the player, mechanics, etc.

Also, people may be overlooking the play call and the passes Mett made. Not to take anything away from his game, but it doesnt take a Joe Montania to throw the quick screen.

is it possible that on some level, even a subconscious one, that Les wants to avoid a QB controversy? thus his action might be consistent with that?

a proposterous thought, i know.

If the Rant is the voice of the fan base, we have a controversy already.

I don't think Les is worried about that. Les wants to win.

Heck, as soon as Mett is the full time starter, Rivers or JR will enter the picture and a new controversy will begin.

I never said Mett should start. I simply said that I believe his talents will shine through in the next few games, causing Miles to start him.

Reading comprehension is your friend.

So what you are saying is that he would start not that he should start? Ok Then why would Miles start someone that shouldn't start?

WOW another useless QB thread from a freshman with too much time on his hands between classes!

That's because a throwing QB will move the defense out of the box.
I hope I am misunderstanding you here.
Lots of folks seemed to think that LSU would rush better with Lee at QB because defenses would have to respect his ability to pass and could not stack the box.

Seven more rush attempts in 2011 with 92 less yards.

Learn how to read genius - I said that I have complete faith in Les and believe he will play the best qb who knows the offense. Right now that guy is clearly Lee. But my PREDICTION is that Mett's talents will shine through when he gets some more time with the offense, as he is clearly the more talented qb. Miles himself said that Mett was the best passer.

I'm not going to look through your post history, but I hope you've never made any comments about how Lee should be starting over JJ. That would make you a hypocrite...

No, I said he will start when he is ready, and I predict that will happen by the middle of the season. Then Miles would and should start him.

This isn't as difficult as you're making it.

As long as things are going good like they have been why change it. But I will say from the pass selection between the two, I think that shows they trust Mett more than Lee

Mett looked impressive in his debut but it's important to remember they're not working out of entirely the same playbook. Mett is still learning the offense, his keys, etc. so Les isn't making the same mistake he made with Lee and throwing the whole book at him right away. The kid looks good; but we'll have to see how he handles the whole playbook under game conditions, and I doubt we'll see that this year. It'll also be interesting to see if JJ redshirts and comes back next year to compete with Mett.

So reading into this, you think JJ was a better passer.

Here.We.Go.

Ever enter a thread about QBs and not mix in your JJ defense?

Of course not. That's why it's a prediction. Note that the title of the thread asks "Who thinks Mett overtakes Lee?"; not "Who visited an oracle and when did they say Mett will definitively overtake Lee?"

We were damn lucky to have Lee after what happened to JJ. He has paid his dues and besides he is a damn good qb. Mett can wait till next year.

No, I think he's saying that other people assumed it would be easier to run b/c they all thought Lee was a far-superior passer.

Nor as easy as you make it seem. There is more to playing the quarterback position than pure passing ability. The only way Mett takes the starting job away from Lee will have to be something unforseen like an injury.
Mett will be the number one next year while the lot of you are bitching and moaning about Rivers, et.al.

Yes. Many times. Now please try to return to the subject of QBs.
