Ricks was trying to leave for Ohio State last year. He doesn’t have an ounce of team commitment in him.

Is he the single problem? Obviously not. But he’s a crystal clear example of the problem.

This is correct!

After a conversation with two current players, I assure you a culture change is occurring. The vast majority welcome it, but there are some that will be weeded out over the next year.

It was absolutely needed and is absolutely happening.
Ricks wasn't "weeded out".
Max wasn't "weeded out".

No player has been "weeded out".

Kelly came here to coach this level of talent. These kids didn't enroll at LSU to play without a name on the back of their uniform, and if Kelly tries to take that name off even in a metaphorical sense he will fail miserably.

If Kelly makes an effort to "weed out" a single player who isn't an obvious headcase to the rest of the team he will fail miserably.

It absolutely is a “culture” change. Our teams from the last two years have not played with the passion we are used to seeing at LSU, have been constantly confused, apathetic and have “opted out” or been injured at a higher rate than any team in the SEC. You are crazy not to feel the selfishness and sense of entitlement in our players. I agree that CBK hates to lose talented players like Ricks but I bet he does more with slightly less talent that plays hard, puts team first and is all in on the system. I’m OK with losing talented but soft players. Culture is a real thing and you will see a harder working and classier version of LSU football moving forward.
I think some of you are just projecting into the team whatever emotion you want. Sure there has been confusion, especially on defense in 2020, but that is what you get with losing a ton of players, a ton of defensive coaches, and a covid year killing your off-season practice.

I have seen players bust their butts to catch balls and chase down other players. This year the defense slowly improved to the point where it was elite at the end of the year. The offense is a year behind because of a poor coordinator and a weak armed young QB.

Did I say Ricks or Max were weeded out? NO. They left pretty much before Kelly was even here. Hell, Ricks left because he wanted a winning culture. You think Saban isn't going to be a huge culture change? LMAO.

So why did they leave? A lot has to do with the poor culture of losing that O had the program in.

Kelly will do just what Saban did when he got to Bama, change the culture which includes the expectations he has of the players. Saban has said numerous times it took about a year to cycle through guys that did not buy in to his way of doing things. They were benched or left the program for whatever reason. Didn't matter, they were gone and his philosophy took over.

Kelly will do the same thing and the program will flourish. If you don't think change is coming you are an idiot.

His job description has changed dramatically. The new normals create a toxic shite nightmare scenario where every time a young immature athlete feels compelled to change his plight ……. he can and does. Nobody can reset that toothpaste back in tube.

Good analogy. Seeing guys like Ricks go to places like Bama makes me smile. Bama is screwed.

I think Stingley and Ricks epitomize that attitude. Good riddance.

My bad. You guys are right. A whole team of SEC caliber talent will teleport in from the portal any second now.

I wouldn't say from Day 1 on Ricks but I'd say definitely from Day 1 about the Pirate Kack.

First cut should be Ryan Clark. Cancer
LSU has been down this road before. Cut or get a positive commitment from him. He can be an asset if he would get off the racial divide crapola he wants to always project.

Agree McGrath. The telling stat of Kelly's hire will be the traditional national signing day. Right now he's probably trying to find out what parts of BR he should avoid.

Hell yeah its a culture reset!!! We got rid of the s/c good guy but a has been Moffitt. This was huge. The o departure was also huge. He was more of a spectator. Root cause of mediocrity gone.
