I did not have confidence that Baker could get it done on Saturday, and I thought offense was going to have to win it.

I thought we would struggle against a QB with running ability, especially at a tough place to play like Auburn.

Boy, was I proven wrong to say the least.

The defense played lights out and I thought it was a great gameplan.

Offense also took advantage and we seemed to be firing on all cylinders. Even penalty-wise, we only had a false start in the first half.

Stop letting rantards shape your opinions.

Like we did against Marcel Reed?

Overall it was a great performance but there were still some third and long conversations mixed in that had me slinging a few cuss words.

You will probably consider me a ranter as I have definitely gone after Baker.

He did stop Reed, but that was also at home and everyone has him figured out now.

I think Brown is a better QB TBH, and in tough spot with a lot of pressure on him, Baker got it done.

Very impressed.

Despite what you may believe, other teams are allowed to make plays against LSU. And when they do accomplish this, it doesn't mean that the LSU defense sucks. Baker put together a masterful game plan, that was not going to allow B. Brown to beat us with his feet. In order to take that away we had to risk passes being completed on us. A few times they were, but not many. Then a few times we played the pass, hoping we could tackle Brown before could gain enough to pick up a first down, and a few of those times he gashed us.

It is what it is. LSU isn't going to win every single drive. Other teams are allowed to get first downs against us, without coaches needing to be fired.

Yeah man I agree, but I can live with those plays as long as the defense gets the stop at the end and not give up points, which they did. They really showed up.

Baker really never struggles with a one dimensional offense. He had zero respect for browns throwing ability and the defense absolutely feasted.

Bama will be a whole other animal because Russel can run and throw. Fingers crossed that the game plan is buttoned up for this one.

The scoreboard was melting pretty hard in the first quarter

Keelon Russell is NOT going to have a good time in TS in a couple weeks, neither is Arch the week after.

Baker has gotten so much better at defending the mobile qbs, it's been a real joy to watch.

We're going to win both of those games by 14+

I didn’t insinuate any of that. Take a look at the first part of my sentence one more time.

I didn't really mean you specifically. I opened up this board in the first quarter and there were multiple threads wanting Baker fired. That's really what I was referencing.

Ok, understood.

I love Blake Baker and don’t want him going anywhere.

The truth is in modern college football, no defense seems to be able to completely dominate. The other team, whether they are as talented as you are or not, will get something going against you eventually. If we keep looking for the 2003 or 2011 defense, we will be waiting forever, because it isn't happening again. It's almost 7 on 7 out there.

The people that do not like Baker, for whatever reason, hold him responsible for every "bad" defensive play, even if the defensive call was a good one.

They do not recognize that players miss assignments at times; it does not matter how good the defensive call was- if a player misses a key assignment, the offense is gonna win that play.

Same people do not recognize the reality that even when all defensive players cover their assignment, the offense is going to win some one-on-one battles that result in the play going for big yards.

Overall, Baker has been terrific this year- had Weeks not been injured, we might be undefeated right now.

Idk, Brown may not throw a ton of interceptions like Reed, but neither can pass the ball worth a flip. That was by far the most accurate Brown had thrown against LSU. He couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn against Tennessee or UGA when I watched him.

But either way I’m glad LSU shut down Auburns strength which was shutting down Browns running.

Amazing what Baker can do with good defensive players, a pass rush, and coverage. Also helps when you have a competent offense.

His defenses that had Sage and Burns as your starters, with zero pash rush didn’t help him much.
A stagnant offense that kept the defense on the field too.

This year is different. I honestly don’t think Kentucky makes those late plays with Weeks on the field. Keys blew crucial plays on the regulation drive and OT play. We’re 7-1 right now if we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot. Maybe 8-0 if we don’t spot Ole Miss 17 points with a half to play.

I think Baker is a good DC, not great, but when he has a tool box to work with he can get it done. This team is way better than his previous teams. And they’re getting better.

This is exactly what happens when you let TD talking points run your life

This place isn’t gospel. Groupthink isn’t infallible

This place gets it wrong way more than it gets it right… I know that will upset people but it is what it is
