Props to changing batting order, every move you made worked. Also Props to pulling Gilbert early and going with Peterson. Good Luck rest of year.

They were all great moves, because we now know they worked.

Careful Mike. You will piss people off with that positivity.

I think Paul is a really good coach but I wish we'd bunt a little more. Without that late gift last night we would have really squandered a good scoring opportunity. Bertman was always bunting even though he had gorilla ballers all through the lineup.

I dont care about what tweaks work. I want someone to coach the kids up and motivate. We have a manager not a coach.

Wait it was a great move to pull Fontenot when he was cruising? It was a great move not to sacrifice Broussard? Im just curious?

This post wasn't meant to he positive. The OP is a O defender and has constantly bashed CPM.

I was highly upset about both of those decisions last night. Glad they ended up not costing us.

I was also pissed on the decision to send Watson on the Duplantis hit in the first. Was a pretty big risk right there, and if Watson doesn't pull off an amazing slide then LSU loses early momentum in a big way.

As a coach, if you have the gall to take out a kid that was doing as well as Fontenot was, you have someone in the pen at a moments notice. There was no reason to pull him out, but Gilbert should have been out after 6 straight balls. Gilbert was look at the pen right before he was pulled out the game. A lot of times it seems like coach makes moves just to say, ‘Look at me, I did something!’ Other times like not sacrifice bunting in the 8th he decides to be excessively hands off. I just wish I understood his line of thinking in these situations, because I have no clue what’s going on in his head.

Really, anyone could have noticed that after the first pitch Gilbert was throwing the baseball like a shotput. It was evident early that something was not quite right.

I don't think CPM sucks. I don't think he should be fired. I think he is one of the best coaches in college baseball. It doesn't mean he doesn't make head scratching decisions sometimes.

Here is how I try to rationalize his thinking in those moves.

- Fontenot was rolling. He threw 3 great innings. I was hoping CPM didn't pull him. My guess is, CPMs thinking was that he already threw 3 innings and they obviously feel he was reaching his max amount of pitches before he hit the wall. CPM didn't want to leave him in too long and blow it in the 9th if Fontenot hit a wall.

I don't agree with it, but that's my trying to be in CPMs head in that situation.

- I was kicking and screaming for Broussard to bunt. I thought it was a no brainer.

Maybe for CPM he felt that the bat would be better in Broussards hands than Hughes, who was coming up next (even with runners now at second and third). You can pinch hit for Hughes in that spot, but now you greatly weaken your defense at the SS position. So, I guess he decided to roll the dice with Broussard hitting.

Again, I didnt agree with it.

Were you even born when Skip was "ALWAYS" bunting at LSU?

Fontenot had reached what would typically be his pitch count ceiling. I agree, though, now's the time to extend a guy that's dealing.

Broussard wasn't bunting because the defense was crashing hard. It would have taken a perfect bunt to advance Feduccia to 3rd. On the other hand, Ark had a lot of trouble fielding the bunt so it may have been worth the risk anyway. Plus, Hughes handles the bat well enough to push a ball to the right side with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

I think Gilbert should have been yanked after the 1st batter. I'm not sure Peterson was ready yet, though, and PM had already used a quick visit. He couldn't stall after a pitch or 2 to the next batter. He had to let it play out. I'd like to see Bain get some innings on the bump, too. I hope he's stayed sharp. They've asked alot of him this year, and getting big innings on the mound after a long layoff is a pretty tall task.

Then make the perfect bunt that’s baseball. It’s called execution and good teams win bc they make plays in situations. See South CArolina besting is after being down by 6

This is the game we needed. I feel great about this team making it to at least a regional. We deserve that. CPM is starting to make the moves he should have done a month or ago

Do major leaguers always make perfect bunts? Are they generally better than college guys?

If not and if so, then maybe you need to adjust your expectations and judgements to real world instead of fantasy.

That was my position on it. Put the pressure on Arky to execute that play flawlessly and make the play. If they don't execute you get bases loaded no one out. Either PM has zero faith in Feducia's baserunning or he can't stop himself from playing for the crooked number.
