Eh, but shite also happens during those drills too. You don't know who's nursing a slight injury, or if someone just felt off. Its tough for some people to go 100% when you're hitting a teammate.
The littlest things in those drills can make you look very good and very bad. Yes power has a lot to do with it but it is alot of technique, and mostly who anticipates the whistle better. Put those same guys one on one 10 times and I would bet it is closer to 50-50.

Watching Josh Williford easily handle Chris Davenport makes me wonder just what is up with Davenport.
Makes me happy Williford is getting strong and nasty,
Glass half empty, half full situation I suppose.

Watching Russell Shepard toss Jai Eugene around makes me wonder about Eugene at S.

Williford is 6'7 345 lbs - that's what happened to Davenport.
Shep didn't toss Jai around. He was holding his pads and still couldn't push him back once Jai got his feet planted.

Peterson has Toliver by 20 pounds plus has a much lower center of gravity. The match up was hardly fair.
Would like to see Peterson vs Randle. Also Ford against K Shep, see if Ford really is a beast...

Did anybody else think the D handled the O pretty well. The majority of those were easily won by the Defense....good thing or bad thing?

ya'll look way too much into a drill that has little to do with football talent

Did the defensive guys not dominate that drill?

Right, because explosiveness, leverage, technique, and winning a one on one battle never have anything to do with football.
As a matter of fact, I hear we are doing away with linemen, and WR are no longer required to block DBs.

Were you watching the same highlight I was?
No one won that. Shepard and Eugene hit and spun each other. It was draw. I'm worried about Jai at safety, but being able to push a blocker back isn't one of my concerns.

Williford got really low for a big guy too.
this is a big improvement for him.
His high school film shows him at 6 7 345 pushing people, without having to even bend at the waist. I was concerned he would not be able deal with reality in the big time. Dandy has him as the #2 LG and #2 RG. I am pleased with his development. He was run off practice his true freshmen summer, because he was not in shape.

That drill has EVERYTHING to do with line play. It's called controlling the LOS.
I have a feeling our dline is going to surprise quite a few folks.

I am assuming he means the fact that you see one rep of the drill. If we saw Jai go against RS 10-12 times, we could make an educated evaluation.
Most of you, however, are freaking out about 1 rep that can easily be an outlier if a player slips/has a bad day/had a more tiresome day/ etc.
