Couple of Notes on LSU Big Cat Drill

I know the big cat drill does not show how good of a football player you are but...
Watching Josh Williford easily handle Chris Davenport makes me wonder just what is up with Davenport. I wonder if he has yet to find his game since his leg injury. Perhaps it is a strength issue...perhaps it is a confidence in his leg issue...I don't know.
Watching Russell Shepard toss Jai Eugene around makes me wonder about Eugene at S.
Like the intensity of Shepard and Williford though.

All of the others were typical run of the mill...Sheppard dominated, Peterson threw Toliver out of the ring, etc. The two I mentioned were the only ones that I found interesting.

big cat drill is not the end all but it tells alot about a players physicality and desire to win that one on one matchup

Eh, but shite also happens during those drills too. You don't know who's nursing a slight injury, or if someone just felt off. Its tough for some people to go 100% when you're hitting a teammate.

Davenport didn't really get "handled" and neither did Eugene...
Davenport's problem was pretty obvious, he was playing way too high. You could even hear someone yelling it at him. It wasn't like he got drove into the ground for playing high though.
And I thought Eugene won...I'd have to watch that one again though but I don't exactly remember RS handling him.

What I like was seeing the snap then seeing the RB cross infront of the QB with the option to hand off or take it himself. We didnt't see enough of that last year

From what I saw, they did.
I used the term handled specifically. Davenport did not get driven into the ground, as you say, but I thought he got handled. He went up against Williford and not only did he not move Williford back one foot, he got pushed back.
Shepard pushed Eugene back and around...Eugene was bent backward, trying to hang on but had to step back a lot to regain his footing.
IMO...and like I said earlier, big cat drill does not mean a ton...but it made me concerned not only for Davenport's strength but also his technique. And I was just surprised at how Eugene struggled with Shepard.

Shep was holding the shite out of Eugene.
Win for Jai
Win for Jai

For the way this bored is now in love with Bockers.... Davenport still has a lead on him.
BOTH will receive plenty of playtime this year though, as will Josh Downs.
Pep and Drake are the starters though.

Where are you guys seeing footage of the BCDs?

Peterson has Toliver by 20 pounds plus has a much lower center of gravity. The match up was hardly fair.

Williford got really low for a big guy too.

It's one on one, if you ever did the drill you know that you win some lose some. I wouldn't worry to much about practice, nor get all pumped about everything you hear. I'm sure if you go to any other team site in the SEC they are saying about the same thing about their team.
