We're talking centuries of tradition here....

I don’t think centuries. Maybe closer to one century.

Two things:
1. Div A, B, C & D - just give them a name. Don’t care if it’s a very basic N, S, E & W ….. but PLEASE, not “pods”
2. Really do not like these alignments.

There is no chance in hell the schools (particularly those in pods A and C) would agree to that. It's basically two ridiculously loaded pods and two terrible pods.

If I we doing it I would set it up this way:

Pod A
Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas

Pod B
LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss

Pod C
Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Vandy

Pod D
Kentucky, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia

It is not perfect and LSU certainly gets the best draw of the power teams (on paper). But it makes geographical sense from West to East. Plus, you can't have Florida/Georgia in the same pod with Bama/Auburn. You could do a 3-2-2-2 model. Or somewhat similar to the NFL: You play your pod (3 games); another full pod (4 games); then one team from each of the remaining pods...rotating every year. For example:

2025: Pod A plays Pod B; C plays D
2026: A plays D; B plays C
2027: A plays C; B plays D

That way a team will have played every other SEC team over the course of three years.

The fight would then become how do you select the teams in the SECCG? My solution: Get rid of it altogether. With a 12 team playoff it is unnecessary and probably hurts the conference more than it helps.

As far as traditional rivalries go everything except Auburn/Georgia is maintained. OU, Texas, A&M will all play each other every year. Alabama and Auburn will still play. Tennessee and Alabama will still play. Florida and Georgia will still play. Ole Miss and Miss. State will still play. Tenn. and Vandy will play.

"How can we tighten our grip on it?"

I don't see any other way to play instate rivals and play the Auburn vs. Georgia game/Texas vs. A&M annually.

These are the games the "talking-heads" want to see.

"Pod D = cripple fight"

Lol. They should all vote "yes" to this model.

I'm sure we can find appropriate names for these four divisions.

Seriously, why do you care if pods B & D are weak.

We want balance and fairness between the top 8.

Who has the tougher road, Bama or LSU?

Bama: Auburn, Florida, Georgia

LSU: A&M, Oklahoma, Texas

Think long-term Tigers. This may be generational.

Kinda flies in the face of the Les Miles “attack them where they’re strongest” strategy of choosing the most difficult path to victory possible. Cuz...ya know...

The Alabama Tennessee game is just as big as the Georgia Auburn game so you have a problem there.

Sorry, but no problem.

Tennessee hasn't been competitive since 2006.

The "Third Saturday in October" is not a difference maker.

"Those pods suck"

Why?

Top 8 teams are balanced.

5 juggernaut games each.

Bottom 8 teams will still have to play a combination (4) of - A&M, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas.

You’ve got the top 8 teams in two pods. Why should the best teams play the toughest schedule?

This is, quite possibly, the worst pod suggestion I have seen.

Ever?

So explain to me what you hate about it?

I will try to address all questions.
