summary of my thoughts:

Offense will be a little more explosive (better) with the continuity of the QB and WRs, but the defense will slip a little with the loss of SM BM.... im hoping the better talent at LBer might mitigate their loss some... but thats tough to predict.

I figure we'd have a preseason rank around 4-6.

I would really hope that you haven't "given up" on a team that is 4-0 and has won 17 out of the last 18 since beginning of last year.

You think our Dline will be better after losing our bookend 1st round DEs?

You clearly can't read. Please say where I said our Dline will be better off dude.

That does not mean that we can't be a better team. We have a ton of freshman playing on the defense as a whole, that should be a lot better next year.

Good reading comprehension.

I think Rasco has the potential to be a first rounder down the road and more of an every down DE than Mingo. On paper right now, we should definitely be a better team next year than this year based off talent.

I would be honestly surprised if one of the three top prospects (Montgomery, Mingo, Reid) did not return.

I could see Sam or Eric back. Mingo is gone.

Sam has the Dorsey vibe to him.

Could have sworn I read somewhere that Sam wants to get his degree.

I would bet money on Sam coming back if he was the only opinion.

He loves LSU too much.

But there will be a ton of people in his ear telling him to take the money, especially considering he has had a bad knee injury in college already.

This topic is what the long off-season months between mid-january and september are for and discussed in depth. Not during the first 1/4 of the current season. Who knows who is coming back, leaving, ineligilble, suspended, arrested...etc.

Which is why he came back last year. Even if he leaves to go pro this year, he will still be able to get it. Im pretty sure after this semester he will only be a few hours away from getting it and will be able to get it during 2nd semester or a summer course. Im 95% sure Sam is gone. Same with Mingo. Reid on the other hand, I can see staying and playing 1 more year with his partner in crime, The Honey Badger.

If Sam does decide to leave, and he expresses that decision to the coaching staff before the end of the season, I really hope they let him walk on senior day. He deserves it.

Mettenberger would really have to blow up to consider going pro
Ford and Ware are probably gone barring injury
Mingo could return if his nagging injury hurts his production
Barring injury Montgomery is gone
Still think Simon could declare even if he's projected later
I think Reid is 50/50 right now as well but if he ramps up production during sec play he will probably leave

we lose 2 first round defensive ends. I think not.

This and a few O-lineman. We got the talent to replace it though, so we'll see.

But seriously, can this wait until at least the regular season is over? We're in the middle of a natty run here!

Look at the young fresh OL we have right now and then look at who is leaving. We lose Lonergan, Hurst, and Josh D because of eligibility. Faulk could stay or leave, and I think he will stay because of his injury. We have La'el who is an absolute monster. Wiliford is a JR. Vadal Alexander, Trai Turner, Elliot Porter, and Jonah Austin have ALL turned heads during fall camp and during the season( Vadal will be a futute all SEC OL). If Faulk stays, then we just lose 2 average/good OL and keep our top OL. Yea, we lose some experience but look at what we are gaining. Not to mention the OL we have coming in next year with Josh Boutte and Pocic.
