The last 3 in the regular season and the 4th-5th place SEC team won't be enough to get our RPI into the 40s IMO. We will need a fresh signature win to boost our profile.

Except for we'd be right on the line. Directly on it. No way we would get a 10. We have ONE quality win, a mediocre schedule at best, and a relatively poor RPI.

I haven't really been following the small conferences, but imagine if Murray State somehow loses in their conference tourney, then whatever crappy team that pulled a crazy upset would get in automatically and take the lower seeds, thus LSU could get a 10.

That would be bad for LSU, bro. We want all the favorites to win their conference tournaments.

I understand that, but IF we got in, teams losing their conference tourney would help our seed

ETA: once I read what I typed I realized how obvious of a statement that was

Teams like Minnesota, Iowa St, and Washington losing early in their conference tourneys would help. Teams like Murray St, Oral Roberts, and Southern Miss would be very bad.

The last teams in are going to be 11 or 12 seeds and playing in that new play-in game. 13 seeds are for automatic qualifiers who won their conference.

Teams like Murray State who get upset now become bubble teams and would take spots away from teams like LSU at the 10,11,12. They won't be any lower if they didn't win their conference.

The best scenario is for us to finish 4th and defeat a team we are competing with for the 4th sec bid. Then we can lose to UK again and be a 10 seed.

Actually, best case scenario is Vandy losing their last 3 (entirely possible with their last three games) LSU getting the third seed and then beating UF on the way to the SEC championship to play UK. I think upsetting UK is out of the question but UF in New Orleans is possible. Of coarse we would need to win these last 3 as well. and yeah this would take a lot of breaks going our way.

Or Bama. We need our Supderdome revenge on those teabagging, tree killing a-holes.

I think we want Vandy to lose and hope we get the 3 seed. Vandy needs to lose out (@Uk, UF, @UT) and that's not impossible.

So you hink if lsu wins the last 3, first game in the second round then loses to kentucky, that the SEC only gets 3 teams in?

What does that have to do with the SEC only getting three teams in?

Well who would go instead of LSU in that scenario?

Tennessee, if they were the 5th seed, would have lost to us in the reg season and tourney in that scenario....Miss St. would lose to us again in that sceanrio in the tourney, and so would Alabama if they were the 5th seed.

Yea you're right, head to head means everything. Even more so when it's 2 out of 3. So does conference affiliation and standings.

not everything, but that late in the season, I think it would mean more, especially if its close between 2 teams like LSU and Bama, or LSU and Miss St, who plays better down the stretch.

Definately. All you have to do is look all the way back to last year at Alabama and Georgia.

I think playing UK in the tourney would, in fact, be different. They know they don't need to win the sec tournament, we know beating them would likely put us into the NCAAs, basically a home crowd for us......it would be fun to watch, at least. Besides, this LSU team seems to play up or down based on the urgency of the moment.

We are not looking good either way. Win out to go 10-6 get the 4 seed and we are opposite of UK so even if we win our first game we get butt raped in game 2 which probably won't be enough to get us in the tournament. Lose 1 game to close out to go 9-7 and get the 5 seed means we probably need to win 3 to make it in the NCAAT and the chances of that happening are also slim.

We would be in so much better shape had we not dropped those patsy games to Coastal Carolina and South Alabama

nope.

will get one of those "play in game" seeds. 12 or 13.

Will end up playing Miami the U. NW is also headed for a play in game but LSU played them already.
So I will guess LSU vs Miami as 13 seeds. Winner plays a 4 seed.

WAYYY more, Its sad but true that a school 750 miles from NOLA would out number a school 60 miles away but have you seen the attendance in the PMAC recently?

It's not just LSU, Kentucky always outnumbers every fan base wherever the tournament is. There won't be as many this year as in Nashville or "Cat"lanta because of distance and the fact they expect to return for the Final 4 a month later, but they'll still outnumber everybody else.
