NOLA.com learned on Wednesday that senior LSU linebacker Corey Thompson suffered a leg injury on Wednesday, which was confirmed by a source in the program.

The 6-2, 222-pounder moved to linebacker in the spring to add depth to a thin linebacker corp, after playing as a safety throughout his career at LSU. Early indications are that it may be a broken fibula, which could require surgery, and would likely take 6-8 weeks to recover.

Well the good news is 6-8 weeks puts him back around the Florida game so he'd miss Wisconsin, MSU, and Auburn as well as maybe Florida but would hopefully give us more depth down the more critical stretch of Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas.

Is this just freak bullshite, or have the coaches dialed up the contact/intensity of the practices? Either way injuries can't be blamed on anybody but it seems odd to have all these defensive guys have leg injuries

I think it's exactly that. It's just odd. Sort of a freak coincidence back to back to back.

Is there any nostalgia for the '90s? It looks like that's the direction of Tiger football with this alarming slough of injuries.
