I said this since the bowls were set. I couldn't get past the fact that bama didn't deserve to be in the game. I could stomach losing to anyone else much easier than this travesty. It's easy to see the team feeling slighted and mentally skewed..
If the team couldn't get up to play Alabama in the national championship the whole coaching staff should be fired and every scholarship player who admits this should have his revoked.
Playing Bama isn't the reason LSU shite the bed on Monday.

What makes you so sure?
And I suppose some conspiracy theory was the reason everyone who was at that game said the tigers looked flat coming out of the tunnel??

wow. Way to take it to the extreme, I'm simply stating that it couldn't possibly have helped. Read the title of the post Contributing factor to lack of morale.

I agree with you, I just think Bama got rewarded; the fact that we had to play an extra game against Georgia while they sat home and watched, while getting their game plan together for the next matchup, just rubs me the wrong way. I don't care what others say, I think Bama had more to play for- they wanted redemption, while we just figured they would lay down & let us overrun them. That being said ,I still blame Les for his offensive gameplan, which looked to be the same as the Georgia game- did he not think the fact that Bama was watching, and we could't even make a 1st down in the first half show a sign that maybe we needed to make changes?? Bama played the run, loaded up the box, but Les wouldn't consider a no huddle, quick throws over the middle or something to make them back off- JJ simply cannot make a quick throw, and takes too many losses on plays. Why did Les have to be so damn stubbon!! Sorry for venting, but this is the rant, and it is stii tough to accept what we saw Monday night...

All you cry babies trying to make an excuse for lethargic play - We played bama twice
Are you people serious? Its obvious most of you never played organized sports in your life or if you did you rode the bench. Playing the same opponent twice had zero bearing on motivation. This is the SEC not the friggin Womens Sewing League. Grow a pair and quit frickin looking for an excuse outside of play calling and execution.

Not looking for an excuse douchebag, just an explanation. Also, if you don't think the players came out flat on Monday you're retarded.

Athletes are more motivated to play better competition, not down or "flat".
Magic & Bird, Boris & McEnroe, etc...
After the first game, they knew Bama was good, so playing the rematch wasn't the reason they were flat. It's just an excuse.

In sports with a playoff system, rematches are irrelevant in regards to motivation. Not so much in college football. If you don't understand then its pointless to respond to you.

How in the hell would playing Bama, a team they know they can compete with...cause morale to decline?
The issue with Bama was only an issue with some insecure, scared fans.

I'd rather hear Bobby Hebert's bitching instead of the whining fan excuses.
Sucks that the Tigers didn't get a creampuff out-of-conference opponent for the big game. That's the way it worked out. If you can't get up to play ANY team, you don't deserve to be #1.
I'm sure that Green Bay would rather play Atlanta than to have to beat the Giants again... but that's how life works.

It's pointless because your point makes no sense. Playing Bama should have been a motivator.

Exactly. I learned in little league, pee-wee, biddy, etc. that you got excited/pumped/DRIVEN to compete against your main rival. Love the challenge, but LSU is somehow scared?

Being scared of and not being 100% motivated are not the same thing and no one said its the only reason.
But of course you knew that because you obviously know everything.

So your main rival doesn't 100% motivate you?
If not, then YOU have a competitive problem, one which suggests certain defeat.

I learned that getting revenge was much more motivating.
