Anyone that thinks screaming STTDB is cool or acceptable needs to grow up and get out the trailer park.

It’s legendary. I just have to smh at those who think it is so vulgar or that impressionable children will hear it and be scarred for life. Get over it. Your children will hear and will say worse things than STTDB. The vast majority of the crowd and 100% of the players love it and it gets them fired up. That is the whole point of having the band at the games.

I was told by a few alumni band members that the song they are currently using isn't "neck" by definition and thats why lately they have been playing it more often and without as much scrutiny or "fines"

its a song called "say amen" and its a loophole.

the students chanting over it is of no control of the band/school.

That being said. They played neck at the natty lmao

From what I hear is one the reasons that Joe Brady jumped ship from LSU is that he did not like the chant from fans when band played neck. Could be true possibly also that he came from NFL so that is another adding why he left and he wanted sole purpose of just him not half and half with coach E

I think it’s totally unacceptable. I think it’s totally classless and probably misogynistic. It is definitely bestial.

Yet...

I can’t stop laughing at its inappropriateness and ridiculousness. It is so out there that it can’t actually be mean spirited.

I remember it vs. Arkansas in 2007
One of the most epic necks of all time.

Fourth and 10 in overtime. LSU is about to win. The entire crowd is doing neck. Then Arkansas converts and wins the game

This was also pre STTDB

There is definitely a dude out there that is claiming that he started STTDB. Exactly when it caught on in the stands we don’t know.

Being around Nola for a few days and hearing people (or the band) play Neck led me to a realization...the fans have just embraced it fully. I saw little old ladies down to teens saying it, along with everyone else in between.

Can’t beat em, join em mentality

I think it is a major embarrassment to LSU and to the program. The fact that NECK will never be played again by the GBFTL shows that people with a brain agree. I cannot believe that this is even debatable. (i.e.: open to discussion or argument)

I think it’s in the language. It’s not just “A Tiger D—-“. It’s THAT Tiger D.

And obviously the idea that would even be possible or a literal suggestion is funny.

Bigger question is who started it? What one person in the student section at its inception said "hey let's say this."?

Southern has been playing neck and chanting "Talking out the side of your neck, bitch" for probably 30 years. Unquestionably, STTDB came from that.

First we have to establish the fact that they were chanting “STTDB” over a completely different song called “Say Amen (Saturday Night” by Panic! At the Disco.

LINK

So it’s really a three-part question:
A) Do you like Neck?
- Absolutely love it
B) Do you like the “STTDB” chant?
- Not particularly. But it was really cool to hear it in the Quarter on Sunday.
C) Do you like “Say Amen (Saturday Night)”?
- I can stand Panic! At the Disco. But what TB did to this song is incredible! Love it! I’m going to be pissed when this gets banned, too.

Neck and STTDB - Classic smack talking that is both the all time greatest taunt and one that inspires and ignites the fan base and the football team. See Joe Burrow at the NC for an example.

If you are offended then take a few deep breaths and realize you you may need to lighten up. Try it, life is much more enjoyable.

If you are worried about your kids....well I have news for you, if they have a cell phone they have seen and heard MUCH worse guaranteed.

If you are inclined to downvote this then please feel free to also STTDB!

You're absolutely correct.

Well said.

I can personally confirm that STTDB was a student section staple in 2010.I do not know if it predates that year though
