I must say this is one of the more amusing threads on any TD forum I've read in sometime.

I didn't see it until this morning and read the whole thing. Some really classic stuff.

If Aramark cooked the jambalaya, I'm sure it was terrible. They cater the cafeteria at my job. They try to do cajun food every once in a while and it is laughable.

Big Woodrow's sucked. Bartenders are slow as death and the guy with the gauges in his ear was a DICK!! Couldn't handle the business and when there was some downtime, he acted like he was waiting on everyone else. Servers were doing their best but with only 2 average bartenders, it made life tough. Will find other establishments to spend my money at next time I am in Houston.

its a shame that you don't feel bad for ripping off so many people. you bit off more than you could chew and it affected a lot of people. your posts are just about as bad as the other guys, just less blunt. the whole Houston alumni group should be embarrassed.

If I was a Houston chapter member I would sure as hell speak up and tell the idiot OP to STFU. I'm really confused because the OP says that he is not a board member but talks like he is one and represents the chapter. If he is not a board member, then why does he care so much about what other people thought of the event?

I think someone from the chapter came in this thread and spoke in a much more political manner than the a-hole OP.

I love how arrogant and ignorant you are. The Austin chapter operates as a non-profit has a 501c3. I don't think you understand what a non-profit is.

I put on a festival and can imagine the logistical problems of one this size. Getting Tiger fans together for a good time is priceless. Congratulations on your effort.

What I said in my post was sincere. I meant that I can take the criticism because I'm learning a great deal about the event. I didn't mean that I don't care that people are upset! I'm just not taking it personally. As I said most of the issues posted are issues that LSU Houston could not have controlled even if we wanted to. We did not bite off more than we could chew. I warned the venue and their staff that as many as 6000 could show up. They assured me personally that this wasn't their first "Rodeo". They recommended how many chairs and tables we needed based on the size of the event. THEY are the professional party planners. They do this for a living and are paid to help with those that don't. I'm willing to bet that no one on this site has ever attempted to throw a party of this size on their own which is essentially what we did. We trusted those that we thought would do a good job. We have learned a great deal and I appreciate everyone's responses! In response to your second quote, if any one needs any help to hit me up....I wasn't being rude. I was serious that if anyone wants to learn from my mistakes I'd be happy to share where and how I went wrong! And... I am embarrassed. I'm not speaking for the rest of the group because I did most of the planning. I knew what it was going to be like and I allowed others to convince me that they could handle the situation against my better judgement. That was my failure. I would like to reassure everyone of one thing. I do have the power to make sure that the proceeds from this event are spent wisely. They will go to a good cause! LSU Houston has a mission. We try to support LSU more than any other Chapter in the country. The proceeds will go back to LSU in the form of scholarships, professorships and building projects. If you didn't have a good time, please know that we are sorry. But we promise your money will go back to the school we care most about....LSU!

I can assure that there is not a Stephen on our board. You can go to our website and see all of our board members. We do have folks that help to volunteer on occasion. They will show up at an event and help out. It might have been one of our vols. Whoever it was spoke out turn and without being asked by me. I'm sorry if he offended anyone and whatever he said does not represent the thoughts and ideals of LSU Houston Alumni.

Pay attention l'il Stevie, this is how you answer critics...caustic remarks to other posters who did not agree with your assessment of the Alumni's Tailgate will not help your standing or cause in the future...

I see you have less than 50 posts. I'm willing to bet by the end of the week someone here will swear up and down that he/she and 4 friends cooked, prepared meals, tended bar for 7,000 at a bowl game or political convention and were awarded one of James Beard's awards.

the problem as I see it is you were taken advantage of by Aramark. They sold you a package that you could not negotiate, they promised you deliverables and then failed and now you are left to field the complaints.

My advice to you is if you ever do this again, use the lessons learned with Aramark, get a price from them for the onsite facility and then use that to negotiate with an offsite company to at least have some semblance of leverage. dealing with Aramark only because of the location allowed them to basically take advantage of you. Their BS about handling the rodeo doesnt apply to your tailgate. I promise you the Rodeo doesnt put up with their shite. Also the rodeo is spread out over the complex and is a steady crowd, not a rush like you dealt with

Thanks for coming here and clarifying your position and situation. If you figure out who LSUstephen is, then kick him in the nuts/vag for us

Appreciate your candid remarks. My group didn't particularly have a good time but its nice to get an apology and a straight forward explanation every once in a while. The tailgate did not diminish the good time that was had by all.

Sounds like Aramark didn't deliver on a signed contract. I hope the association deals with them through legal avenues.
