Alan Faneca... My favorite all time OG to play for the Tigers (love several other greats like Eric Andolseck..RIP).
My weird little trivia.... both Faneca and Peyton Manning inducted in the same HOF class, drafted in the 1st rd. of the '98 NFL Draft, and played High School football at schools less than 10 miles apart! What were the chances?!

Faneca played High School football at Lamar Consolidated in Texas.

Pretty sure he is from Texas. Remember when he was being recruited

Faneca was from Texas I don’t believe he played for John Curtis.

Faneca played at John Curtis '87-'90. His family moved to the Houston area and he did graduate from Lamar Consolidated High.

Simply the best to ever do it at LSU.

Shhhhhhh. You'll rile up the Mawae supporters.

Lol I love him too but Faneca is the best Olineman at any position I ever saw at LSU and I don’t have to think twice about that.

Kevin Mawae is my favorite Center all time (other greats Wilkerson, Cushenberry, and others). But that's for another day.
Faneca was a bad arse, blow you up, make you want to get out of the way OG I've watched at LSU. Dude was great!

I have no idea about Faneca and John Curtis.
But if you look at Austin DeCulus' LSU profile, it says he is from Mamou.
He isn't

He was incredible but I am an Andolsek fanboy.
Many people (like you), justifiably hold Alan as the best yet never saw Big E play. I saw both. While debatable, Eric played with a fury I have never seen at LSU and only seen from very few in football. Think Butkus-level mean mixed with primal rage. And, as hard as it may be to realize, Eric was far stronger. Hell, he was only 20lbs lighter but 4” shorter and 8-10% body fat.
All that said, I couldnt fault anyone siding with Alan.

Deculus’ family is from Ville Platte area and his sister attended Sacred Heart (VP). Some of family moved to Texas.

Jay Whitley was a Center for the' Root Hogs 'and paved the way for Charles Alexander. Jay was also State Wrestling Champ from Lee High. He deserves some attention as well.

Yes Andolsek was great as well. That was an outstanding unit for 2 years with Norwood, Packnett, Hazard, Nacho, Ruffin and others.

Andolsek was a great Tiger too! A real fighter, tough as all get out!

He made three blocks on the option run that Herb Tyler scored on against UF.
