Name anybody at LSU who has done as well or better as LSU AD. Name anyonewho you would have perferred as AD over Skip. Just give me your opinion...I'm open here...

You people bitching about losing Henry, how many track events did you ever attend?
Posted on 6/13/09 at 3:05 pm to stout
No I'm not. People are burying Skip over a track coach while the football program and the entire athletic dept has reached heights not previously seen at LSU.

i could name just about any other ad at a lot of schools
you arent getting it
im giving skip all the props in the world for his fundraising abilities. he could make taf incredible
but some of his ad decisions were not that great, considering he was appointed ad bc of his baseball success. the two do not equal
he didnt retain henry
he let brady stick around
he hired fricking smoke laval
thats just three bad moves
we keep playing shitty division 2 football opponents
there are other reasons
just bc teams are good doesnt mean the ad is the best on the planet
football at lsu should never suck. EVER
our basketball coach was a dickhead, and got by bc of the temples
dont get me started on fricking smoke laval

So nobody at Lsu could be found. I don't think Florida or other schools would let us steal their ad. Brady saved his job in 05 and 06. He was fired less than two years removed from the final four. Skip was not AD when Smoke was hired...and yes it does make a difference. We play in post season in nearly every sport. Also, we have upgraded our facilities in order to compete. HE's the best we have ever had at the post.

isnt it a problem when your coach is repeatedly having to save his job?

Skip did not hire Brady. Brady won during the early years of SKIP'S AD tenure. You can't fire coaches who are winning even if you think they are dickheads...see Nebraska football. Skip was not AD when Laval was hired. It's different because of a thing called legacy. Skip will be remembered for hiring Mainieri. Sorry you can't answer any of the questions I posed. I just wanted to know your opinion.

No, I did not miss the point of this freaking thread. You're putting down Skip as AD because he let Henry go. If you're such a rabid Henry supporter how many track and field events did you attend to show your support for the man and the team. BTW, did you go to Ryan airport to welcome the team back after they won their last NC. Better yet, did you ever attend LSU or contribute in any way to the success of the school. I do and I contribute regularly to the alumni foundation. Why bash Skip if your arse never attended a track meet? It does sound good about the number of NC's a school has in track but if the fan support isn't there then who really gives a frick? I went to LSU as an undergrad and as a grad in graduate school. I can honestly say that I never went to one track event and probably to three baseball games. I was a freshman in '68 and baseball was unheard of. I compare those days to the Skip era at LSU and all I can say is that LSU was as lucky as hell to get the services of Bertman both as a coach and as an AD. I'd rather have a winning program in sports that fans attend as opposed to a program that nobody gives a shite about. Again, if you cared, were you at Ryan field to welcome them back after their last NC? I know that I wasn't because I lived in Denham at the time and I didn't give a crap about the track team.

Brady situation was probably handled about right, it would've been difficult to fire him during the CT pipeline days unless he did something illegal or publicly embarrassed the program.

I'm with you... you need to reply to these other fellas.

It's about legacy which has elements of arrogance to it. You ever notice how coaches who name their successors always fail. Think about that. It applies to all forms of life. And yes Skip is a little arrogant. You can do that if you are a winner.
