I dont Get people who treat RS JR like underclassmen.
They’ve been in school 4 years and probably took enough summer classes to pass.
Clapp has started 3 years. There is no defect in Clapp as a prospect than can be fixed by more game film. He went in the 7th because of measurable.

I will never get upset at a guy leaving that has earned his degree. If he's NFL material, he will be fine. Clapp was never going to be a 1st or 2nd round draft pick, so the difference in his signing bonus was never going to be life changing money. If he makes a roster, good for him. If he doesn't, that extra year of college wouldn't have changed much and he'll still have his degree to fall back on.

quote:the graduation argument really doesn't hold much water. This is about the NFL. If Clapp could come back and improve his draft stock, then the fact that he already graduated doesn't mean much (from a football perspective).
Only reason for clapp to stay is if he wanted to go to grad school.
Now, if he graduated and was eager to go to work for Apple or Google, then sure, go get started on your non-football career.
But if he wants to give pro football a try, then coming back and enrolling in some grad school classes to stay eligible for one more year would make sense.
ETA: his major was that wonderful and rigorous Sports Administration - the chosen major of 80% of our players. Guaranteed to have employers around the world lined up to pay top dollar.

Coming back for one more year doesn't make him a 1-4 round pick. He got drafted, and he can be a back up Center or Guard. He'll learn the offense and get a few years in the league. We aren't even hurting at the position at which he left.
If you want to be frustrated be with guys like Toliver or Weatherby. They left us with a need at tackle and cb.
It's not an argument about graduation. Some kids use college as a way to go to the NFL, and some go to get a degree. Clapp finished his degree, and didn't want to further his studies.

You know for a fact that 80% of the team is in this major? I bet you are totally fricking wrong.

frick you. He’s going to make some money now and not risk injury playing for free.
Stop being a selfish a-hole. You don’t care about his draft stock, you don’t care about his education, you only care about how he can help LSU.
