This an extremely poor take.

I’d take aggressive big hits with some missed tackles over soft hits, broken coverage and missed tackles.

they seem to miss some tackles

Dude are you even watching the game? Or did you just flip it on for a second and happen to see a missed tackle? Because they’ve been swarming to the ball and making sound tackles all game long. They’re almost universally way smaller than their UGA counterparts and they’re absolutely walling them off.

I wouldve KILLED for LSU to tackle as well as this UC team this year.

you can still make big, aggressive plays by going in with the mindset of wrapping up. you’ve seen too many times where our guys go in with a shoulder thinking they’ll crush the guy but he stays on his feet to make a big play

What game are you watching? At least they are flying to the ball, attacking the ball and playing their coverages well ??????????

This is why I love the rant. Dude’s not even hired and he’s fired already.

I like what I have seen today about the Cincinnati defense. Was thinking about the quality of recruits to work with. Think Freeman has done more with lesser talent.

Hypothetically, my only concern is how long they’d be able to hold on to him. His defenses are always aggressive, I’d love to see him here with this talent.

Their defense is putting on a clinic and you are nitpicking a missed tackle or two? They seem to get to the ball carrier very well. That matters most to me. As well as holding a team far more talented than them to 10 points through 3 quarters.

They are also playing well in coverage and forcing turnovers.

Not sure how you have concerns other than you are being extremely critical, but to each their own. If you have concerns here then every single DC should concern you. I'd love to know who you would rather have as DC right now? What DC would give you no concerns outside of maybe Venables?

Great point.

Our secondary was superior and we never missed tackles this year.

Maybe you were watching the 2019 game replays. That D looks pretty good and he is not working with LSU level talent.

I see the very good tackling most of the time.

Everyone needs to chill!! This melt is fantastic though. I never once said I disliked Freeman, I think he’s a good defensive coach and would definitely be in my top 3! However everyone on here acts like he can do no wrong. He’s turning into one of the rant’s untouchables and he doesn’t even coach here lol. I just wanted to give an honest assessment and found a few mild concerns.

I like that the defense is flying to the ball without being out of position all the time. They're allowing about 8 top right now, but look really good on 3rd downs. For the most part, they have clamped down on UGAs offense.

The fact that Freeman is young, hungry and trying to still climb the football ladder should be enough to ease anyone's fears.

Georgia players are much more talented, that’s part of it.

What does our defense have to do with cincy’s?! Obviously our defense was arse and that’s why Pelini is gone. I definitely wasn’t watching 2019 replays cuz our D was shite in 2019 as well! Freeman would obviously be an improvement. It’s like you posted something without reading, and it shows.

I think people actually do understand where college defense is at today and they would happily just welcome better play than coverage breakdowns left and right.

Again though, who is better though? Just curious.

BTW, that was a nice job holding them to a fg there. Cincy's offense hasn't done anything outside of the long run in the 2nd half.
