Boy, it was our first time ... took our 3 kids and I think that we'll ALL always remember it ... I did NOT want to come home ... I'm ready to book for next year!

Great write up Carl.

Didn't Gibbs have two errors? I don't mean to nitpick, just wondering

Don't agree with the Rice commentary. I think Texas was the best opponent by far!

Summed up nicely..."There are settle-it-on-the-field postseason games that put to rest the offseason arguments. LSU's 11-4 victory Wednesday against Texas was that kind of game."

Great article Carl, you DO have a way with them.

By the way....Congratulations to Chicken! One of the best moves ever, obtaining your writing for TD.com. Makes him look very very smart!

...and wow...how bad does this make the decision of the Advocate look? They are tailing off (writing quality down...readership, down)...while you are gaining in respect and readership.

Thanks Chicken and Thanks Carl!

Wow! A great read. Thanks for all of the amazing pieces you have written. The Advocate is nothing without your articles.

Thanks again,

You are correct. One was a throwing error, and the other was catcher's interference. It's a shameful sin on my part that I momentarily forgot the latter is scored as an error (please don't tell Joe or Chris Macaluso; they'd never understand how an alleged baseball guy could forget such a thing).

This was the first year since 2001 in which I didn't cover at least 60-plus games and practices, and the rust shows. My apologies.

Not nit-picking at all. I appreciate it. You'd make a good editor. I've updated the paragraph.

We can agree to disagree. Rice was 2-0 against Texas in the regular season and 2-0 against the Longhorns in fall exhibition games, and I really liked the Owls. Texas impressed me too, very much.

very, very nice article carl...your best yet, I think...it made me feel proud of our tigers and exctied at the capping off of a remarkable season, and yet solemn as yet another year of college atheletics has come and gone...a fine summary of a fine season...

I agree that this is a great piece of writing - it actually choked me up. I too was in Omaha for the first time, and I'll never forget it. My wife and I were in the left field bleachers with the crazies for the Monday night game of the Championship Series. It was a game that will go down in LSU legend - the heat, the humidity, the tension, and the great comeback all made for an almost mystical experience. And Wednesday was the icing on the cake. All I can say is wow, and congratulations Tigahs!

Carl, you've found your "voice." The Father's Day piece and the two recent ones about the CWS reveal a genuine talent with a big heart and a real handle on the essence of sports. You are a rare commodity. Thanks for making my reading so enjoyable.

You are the best that Baton Rouge has to offer as for as writing an artical for the print media and the internet media. That was a great artical and only wish you the best in your endeavers as you seek to do what you do best, make people stop and take notice at how great of an artist you are with words. Thanks again and hope to see more from you during football season.
