.165 average - 16/97
.296 on base - 34/115
.216 slugging - 21/97 (3 doubles, 1 triple)
.512 OPS

31 K's - 27% of plate appearances
0 SB's

5 errors / 143 chances - .965 fielding %

Has any other LSU player ever had 100+ career plate appearances with a .216 slugging percentage? As a matter of fact, I would be interested to know the next closest.

He was so fired up when Graham misjudged his line drive that he puked himself.

Alex milazzo has a .205 career slugging

He had the worst hitting season of any LSU regular in the last 35 years.

Okay. Poor oversight on my part. I had to look no further than his high school teammate.

In fairness, at least Milazzo is pretty universally regarded as one of the top defensive catchers in college baseball, having thrown out 60% of attempted steals with a .993 fielding percentage and just 5 passed balls for his career.

I could tell he'd never been that far before... (bum, bum, bum) - Conway Twitty and the Twitty Birds.

Hal Hughes had a career slash line at LSU of .198/.275/.241

His fielding was only .955 for his career at LSU as well.

He is the worst everyday starter we've had here at least since Skip took over the program

Still a significant improvement from Jordan Thompson's .917 fielding career at LSU

sure, but not enough better to act like he was a more valuable piece in a lineup. I've never seen a regular starter be that poor at the plate. It's like people have completely forgotten about how much everyone hated Hughes being in the lineup only "for his fielding." Were he still on the team, he wouldn't and shouldn't start over Thompson either. I get being annoyed at Thompson's awful defensive play, but some people take their frustrations so far that they lose all sense of reason whatsoever. Many need to stop being such prisoners of the moment. Everything bad that happens doesn't have to be the worst thing ever.

This stat really tells the story on a guy who doesn't hit for average or for power.

He's overmatched...out of his league. It's not marginal. He simply can't play at this level.

Yeah I don't want to knock the kid because he's doing his best, but there's just no reason he should be getting significant playing time at this level. Even with the injuries.

He doesn't even look competitive in his ABs. And I bet if we looked close enough he's probably got his eyes closed on the few where he made solid contact

100%

The kid has done nothing wrong and is probably working his arse off. It's not his fault.

Don't get me wrong Hughes had no part being in the lineup. He was terrible offensively, similar to how terrible Milazzo was at the plate last year but Milazzo is an elite defensive catcher.

I was saying a .955 is a fielding percentage we all would love for our middle infielders this year to have.

He’s not an every day starter. He is filling in for an injured kid.
If Berry was well he wouldn’t be in the game.
