Take all that for what it's worth. We have no clue what the committee will lean on most. They may lean most on something that I don't even have listed. They may also mix and match what they use for some, and what they use for others.

Bottom line is I don't think we are just absolutely locked in no matter what. In a good spot, yes. But we sit about half way, or bottom half of all of those metrics.

While his job no doubt is to generate clicks and viewership, this was precisely the point Hunt was trying to make. It just unravelled when he tried to play devil’s advocate bc fans don’t like reading what doesn’t align perfectly with their team’s best case scenario.

We’re in the group of teams that are the odds on favorites to secure a Top 8, but it’s not a 100% certainty yet. Still games left to be played and the committee takes in multiple sets of metrics, all of which are not for or against LSU vs other teams. Unfortunately for us, the area the committee places perhaps the most weight (RPI) is also the metric cutting against LSU with 6 of the ~8 or so teams we are competing with for the Top 8.

We’re sitting pretty at this time and I’m confident teams like Oregon State and Oregon would rather have our overall resume and our current position. Let it play out.

Well good news is our RPI can improve a bit. Our SOS will almost certainly improve as well. I hope we get to play Auburn. Beating them would be icing on the cake.

The SEC Tourney win/loss outcome will not matter for the top 3 in the SEC. It’s a waste of time, and the tourney should go away. It only matters for those fighting to get in post season.

This will be weighted heavily for the SEC teams. The strongest conference that added to good/great programs this year. I believe a 19+ win SEC team has always been a top 8 seed, no reason to think they won’t this year.

Single elimination makes it even more irrelevant.

Excellent work! LSU is in top eight of every metric except SOS. I’d love to get one win in Hoover to solidify it, but right now we are clearly in the top 8

That is not always the case and that has been shown numerous times in recent years.

We are and will be a top 8, regardless of what happens in the SECT.

I think we'll be 6-8 if we lose the first game of the SECT, 4-6 if we win the first game of the SECT. We could jump into the top 3 with a couple of wins.

I'm fairly confident that we win Friday, which will put us in the 4-6 range.

I think so too, but key word is "think." I'd rather not leave anything to chance with the committee. A decent number of teams in contention will lose this weekend too, and Oregon St won't even play, so it's not like LSU will be the only team to lose (if/when we lose). I think we are alright regardless, but I'm not ready to pound my chest and call it an absolute lock. It's worth keeping up with everything happening for sure.
