Some interesting notables:
*Miles was the only coach to vote Ohio St in the top 5.
*Miles voted Cincinnati at #8, (lowest rank by a coach)
*Dan Mullen voted LSU the highest at #9.
*Neil Callaway(UAB) voted LSU the lowest at #17(spurrier had us at #16 )
*Troy Calhoun (Air Force) voted Florida #2
*Pelini had Texas at #1
*Jeff Tedford ranked USC #22 and Stanford #25(stanford beat usc 55-21)
And last BUT definatley not least...
Mr. Charlie Weatherbie the commander and chief of the mighy ULM Warhawks has TCU @ 2,
Cincy @ 3, Northwestern at 16(i dont think any other coach even had them ranked), TROY @ 25, and where did the esteemed Mr. Weatherbie have LSU?
Barring a huge hiccup by USA today, LSU was nowhere to be found on his ballot!

Agreed.

Agreed. Thanks Dan.

Steve is still upset that he was passed over?
quote:
Troy Calhoun (Air Force) voted Florida #2
Too high. UF had their share of close calls and they got beat down last Sat.
quote:
Pelini had Texas at #1
Don't blame him. Conference loyalty. May need Mack to return the favor sometime.

Mad because we played every Division I school in Louisiana except his.

Good reasons why coaches poll should not count!

not any more.
the assistant ad is usually the one who does the voting for the coaches polls because the coaches have more important things to worry about.

ULM should be replaced on next year's schedule.
period!
period!

Not inciting an argument, but I want your premise on why we need ULM on our schedule.

If this is true, (Weatherbie's vote) then it only confirms Weatherbie's recent firing at ULM.

Exactly....the human poll should not count, but then who would listen to all those whiney commentators putting their spin on things.
USC would not have a "title" in 2003 n we would not have gotten 2007

Since the Sports Info Directors fill out the ballots and not the coaches, let me do a "fixed it for ya" real quick...
*Michael Bonnette was the only SID to vote Ohio St in the top 5.
*Bonnette voted Cincinnati at #8, (lowest rank by an SID)

I thought he was upset because he got fired to make room for Crowton to be ULM's next head coach.

Not saying that didnt happen but as a former member of my jr. high debate team I would like to atleast present a few sources to back my case.

Even if bonnette did vote for him its still interesting to see the logic in those votes by a big time official with the program.

LSU's Les Miles said sports information director Michael Bonnette, after an "over-the-phone conversation," filled out his All-SEC ballot, but that he fills out his own Top 25 in the coaches poll with some help.

But since we all know some coaches have sports information directors or operations directors fill out their ballots, chances are a written record exists for every ballot submission.

Maybe just maybe Kelly should've kept his mouth shut about Les being on the hot seat

Good points. My comments were made slightly tongue-in-cheek, but I firmly believe that almost 100% of the coaches get a good bit of help from the SID's.

Coaches are terrible at ranking teams and should not be allowed to do it. Often they rank teams on "how they played against us", instead of W/L records....giving a skewed view of things because if a team didn't play Tedford for instance, they might be a good team but he would rank a team he beat but that played well against him over a team he has no knowledge of.
