Pressure defense was his calling card at vcu,I wonder why he doesn’t use that style of defense with lsu?

I think he has to work with what he has, and he doesn’t have anyone that plays defense, well...

WW commented that the biggest obstacle with this team to the defense he wants to run is the inability of his players to play defense with endurance. They can play pressure defense for moments but do not have the stamina to maintain the defensive pressure. This will get better as the season progresses as we build up the stamina we need to be a good defensive team.

People don't understand how basketball works. In order to be a functioning defensive and aggressive unit, you need multiple things to work with.

Let me give you a little insight:

A) You need depth
B) You need perhaps your best perimeter defender (Sampson) to be healthy
C) You need your bigs to be athletic
D) You need zero laziness

These are just a few quick things. We're adding length and insane athleticism next year. Our defensive ranking may literally jump about 200 spots. Guys like Epps and Reath play 0 defense. Reath likes weak side blocks, but terrible on ball.

Regardless, Wade has already proven he can turn an AWFUL team into a decently competent team. I cannot wait to see what is in store

Do you remember the Arkansas 40 minutes of hell from the 90's when they had Big O? Their "power" forward wasn't very athletic either.

With the idiotic, stupid fan base of LSU I'm actually starting to hope we never win anything going forward. Football, baseball, basketball. Just 90% idiots.

Wade said after the tournament in Hawaii we cant guard anybody. So what in the real life frick makes you think he can take a Johnny Jones team that didnt play defense and in 8 or 10 games turn defense into a strength?

2 degrees from LSU and 3 children and none will go to LSU.

So you’re going to forbid any of your children from going to your alma mater (if they want to) because of a few stupid fans...? Makes sense

Right. He’s been VERY blunt about his expectations and the team’s progress within that from the very beginning. He’s stated multiple times that, while he’s happy with the offense, the defense has a LONG way to go. He’s also stated that he understands that we can’t get to where we want to be in one year. It’s a process. He ha a vision of where he wants this program to be. But it requires a major cultural overhaul that simply takes time. Earlier this week he also stated that they were spending a majority of their practices on defense. So, he’s not letting these guys off the hook.

LSU is an average at best team this year man. Will Wade will not be able to transform players that have Johnny Jones laziness embedded into their brains. There really is no excuses to make. Just facts. Wade can only do so much with the lack of talent and depth that he has.

Quit blaming Wade's failure on Coach Jones. The buck now stops with Wade.

The biggest factor of them all. Outside of the Michigan and Houston games, the team has given very little effort on defense. If our guys even gave a little effort on defense teams like Samford wouldn't score 80 points.

I'm a huge Will Wade fan, but based on results there isnt much difference in mid-december of last year to mid-december this year. Beating Michigan instead of ODU in a tournament is about it.
