Was Trevor Lawrence a Heisman candidate last season?

Lol so it takes good players to win big games against good teams? What a discovery Roger, I remember the first time I watched football too.

If he started all year, probably would have won.

So that's a no. He didn't even start all year as a true freshman and wiped the floor with Bama's D, but LSU with a fifth year senior QB can't expect to eke out a win.

As usual you can’t answer the question anytime it goes against you opinion. The answer is no he wasn’t a Heisman candidate and no he wouldn’t have won it over Murray. Kyler Murray had the best single season for a QB in college football history last season which is why he won the Heisman. Stretching Lawrence’s stays out over a full year wouldn’t have changed that.

Apparently no one got the memo that Ed O is only responsible for wins when he has 1) The best players on the field 2) The Best Coaches on the sidelines 3) No injuries or bad luck
Until all those things align, it isn't his fault at all. He's the only coach that has to deal with uneven rosters, injuries, junior absences, poor OC or DC choices, etc. Ed Orgeron is unmatched in problems he must overcome at LSU. The program was an absolute disaster before he got here. No coach in this country has as much to deal with.

Yep. That's what happens when you're a generational phenom.

That's on you, Jethro. I'm expecting a win.

Whoa dude pump the brakes, that’s what they said about Cardale Jones and Tua but I’m not sure we can know that yet? Don’t you think?

I don't care who said anything about Cardale
Had he been eligible for the draft, Lawrence would have been the first player taken this year.

You think so? Kingbury seemed to really love Murray.

No doubt.
Lawrence is most likely the best QB prospect sine Peyton

Without any hesitation I can say if Lawrence were eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft, he’d be the first pick. He’s possibly the best true freshman to ever play quarterback.

I really like Lawrence too but Andrew Luck was a better prospect than both Lawrence and Manning. We haven’t even seen Lawrence go through the combine or have any measurable testing yet and with these spread guys almost all of them need as much seasoning as possible in college.

Eh, Luck was prone to turnovers, and certainly wasn't a phenom coming out of HS.
He was a robo QB who did everything right, mechanically.

For example is he as gifted as Josh Allen or J-Russ? Not a chance in hell. Does he have the grasp of NFL concepts that Luck or Wilson or some others have had? Not even possible. The talent appears to be there but he’s far from ready now and it’s not like he carried Clemson. He was more of a difference maker, he gave them the downfield threat and pocket QB ability that they’d lacked before but their Dline and experience carried that team. Lawrence was the cherry on top not the engine that drove Clemson.

I disagree. He became full time starter in game 4 and still compiled this stat line
15 259 397 65.2 3280 8.3 9.3 30 4 157.6
To throw almost 400 times and have only 4 interceptions is phenomenal. Even with a 65% completion rate.
