re: Coach O you’re paid $8.7 million, tell us how did LSU get this bad?

He is exactly who we all thought he was. And now he can’t even motivate

O was at ZERO risk to leave, even after 2019.
No extension or raise was needed. Besides, even with the NC, the model of O as CEO and getting paid less than the market rate, was still in place.
The raise and extension was completely unnecessary and a horrible decision by Woodward.
What if, stay with me here, the contract extension and raise were part of the contract Aleva signed him to? What if Woodward's hands were tied and he had to honor what the contract called for should he win the NC? Maybe, just maybe, Woodward put something the new contract which he could control that none of us are privy to??
Just spitballing.

Also, you people that bash Scott on the extension are just foolish. You have the history of knowing the future and how it all would play out. There was zero thought, by anyone, we would be where we are now on January 14, 2020.
Unless there was language in O’s contract requiring LSU to bump O that high, it was ludicrous to pay the man so much money.
He deserved a raise of a bonus but not to be paid that kind of money. He hadn’t accomplished nearly what Saban had accomplished and he wasn’t in high demand.

Maybe that’s the case, but i haven’t heard that it was.

Not sure who either, so many lawyers with connections to LSU someone here knows.

Woodward is the idiot who gave him that contract extension without any realistic performance measures
Most coaches have an escalator clause or option to get a more lucrative contract if they win the NC. It wasn't really in his hands.

With so many assistants having to be replaced after 2019 season and knowing O hadn’t hit pay dirt on any of them in the past. This contract was a huge risk.

The amount of money this idiot makes is maddening when his entire sell job to get the position was based on taking less to pay staff more. He did the exact opposite of what he promised because he’s all about O and O only. I remember as a fricking interim coach he was complaining during Bama week that he couldn’t recruit the way he needed to without a long term commitment. He didn’t even have the job yet! Then during the same week in 2019 when people realized Brady was going to be in serious demand he not only lowballs him on the money side of his offer but he doesn’t offer Brady a promotion to OC on top of it. This guy has always been a piece of shite and we should’ve known this would happen.

Orgeron played LSU’s AD, was all BS, he has zero excuses now, and still can’t recruit like Alabama.

He's already told us multiple times how it got that bad. Why does anyone need to ask the question?

How many years are left on O's contract?

That is the main reason for a contract extension but in the CFB world, it's not the only reason.
If Woodward wouldn't have rewarded O with what is comparable to other schools in that situation, no major coach would want to come and work under Woodward. Could you imagine the negative press coverage LSU and Woodward would've received if they offered O a raise without a contract extension after what many call the greatest team of all time? I would be willing to bet that Woodward cringed the entire time but he had no choice if he ever wanted to get a good coach here. Also, buyouts are almost always negotiated down.

We will found out how much that is true with Orgeron when that day arrives. How much does he love LSU, how much does he prefer the blonde who loves him keeping those millions.

I believe you should say that Woodward recommended the extension--remember that there are higher entities that control the money at LSU. Those backing Woodward's approval should also be held accountable.

STOP.
We wouldn't be able to hire any top notch coach after O is gone if the message we sent to everyone else was "hey you can go 15-0 including against 7 top 10 teams, and you won't get top dollar for your efforts."
Man this board.
