9. Moss isn’t the only player Orgeron would like to see more of. He singled out Jacoby Stevens’ one-play, one-sack ratio and said the Tigers need to get him on the field more, and also talked about utilizing the talents of Jontré Kirklin on offense, as well as Racey McMath and others. “Seeing the 11 guys on the field and looking behind me and seeing a better athlete, that’s not LSU football.”

Isn't this refreshing to see. It just goes to show how deep the talent pools is for team in certain positions. Utilizing all the best talent that you have. We could have used this type of coaching for the last 10 years.

So when Saban complained about Skyler Green not getting enough touches in 2002, it was because of poor coaching? Or when it took injuries to both Addai and Carey for Vincent and Broussard to get significant touches in 2003?

Sometimes it's not some obvious call, but simply a coach who thinks they ARE playing the best guy. To assume otherwise is to assume a coach is purposefully playing a guy he thinks gives him less of a chance to win.

so excited to see this offense develop the rest of this year and next year. only gonna lose brossette, moreau, and Bruiser. so much talent returning to an offense that players are STILL getting familiar with and are succeeding anyway. future of this offense is very bright with ensminger ESPECIALLY if this OL can get healthy.

I just don't understand the whole Jacoby Steven's situation. if he's better than what you've got on the field...put him in the damn game.

Saban got on his headset and wondered why skyler green wasnt in the game. Well coach, he doesn't know the playbook. Saban responds: run a play that he knows and put him in the game.

It's 2018. Last 10 years. See the difference? I will not name the players that i am thinking about. But there are more than a few. Beckwith and Russel Shepard come to mind as 2 who were wasted a couple of years.

I realize rick said it to shite on Miles...which is why I brought up Saban, who had done almost exactly the thing he just seemed upset about.

Miles did not have the monopoly on potentially not playing the best guy available at all times...even at LSU.

Yup...I know why you cut it off there.

Agreed...but is it because you think Miles felt they were better and didn't play them anyway?

I agree 100% on Beckwith...drove me crazy he wasn't in. but I never thought it was some crazy favoritism or anything. Just a he and Chief feeling the senior gave them a better chance...even though I think they were wrong.

Shep was always caught in systems that simply did not get set up to use him well at all.

Nah...Addai and Shy Carey were starters in 2003. Both got hurt in subsequent games, and Vincent and Broussard broke out against USCe on the road...and the 2003 season unfolded with Vincent going crazy the rest of the way.

ETA: Why do you guys force me to do this stuff?

Shy Carey

Started season in a rotation at running back with Joseph Addai ... Responded with a career-best 124 yards and a TD in win over Western Illinois ... Carried the Tigers to a September win over Georgia with 73 yards and a TD on 18 rushes ... Scored at least 1 TD in LSU's first six games, including two in the road win over Mississippi State ... A knee injury (MCL - no surgery needed) against Mississippi State forced Carey to the sidelines for four consecutive games

Joe Addai

Opened year as LSU's starting running back before an injury against Florida sidelined the sophomore for 2 games

Justin Vincent

Put together the finest season for a freshman in LSU history, rushing for a freshman school record of 1,001 yards in leading the Tigers to a 13-1 overall mark and the national title ... Answered the call when injuries forced Joseph Addai and Shyrone Carey to the sidelines in consecutive games midway through the season ... Started for the first time against South Carolina and responded with 77 yards and 2 TDs ... Never relinquished the starting position

Cut and pasted form LSU Sports Bios...

For frick's sake...

I hate to be down on specific players, but if that's truly the case it starts with a former #7 player.

Sometimes the better talent simply isn't ready to play yet. People refuse to acknowledge this happened with Beckworth.

This.

There isn’t a soul alive that would argue that JaMarcus Russell isn’t a “better player” than Marcus Randle.

But honestly Saban rushing JaMarcus into QB1 in 04 probably cost us the Auburn game and damn near cost us Florida as well.

It’s a tough call for a coach to make, and I’m not faulting O or any of the staff for needing time to figure out who is ready and in which situations they can be counted on.

I like stevens and think he's a good player but his sack was because of great coverage. I'm happy that he pursued the way he did after being initially blocked but it wasn't like he made a great individual play
