What is the rational behind not talking to O ? I really don't think CLM wants to go into a recruits home after O. This would be LSU's best chance to lock it up . No

Why dont they just offer him something? At this point I would take him as the DC...

I don't think LSU was ever going to consider him for a Defensive coordinator spot. I think his Xs and Os were not convincing enough for us. I have read that the fact that he has never been a DC. (I understand that he was one while at Ole Miss and the interim at USC, but he was also a HC) I think this is the primary reason that he hasn't be seriously considered. This is how I see it, if we promote from within Ed O becomes the DL coach. If we do an outside hire Ed O remains unemployed or is hired by an SEC team (which would really hurt our recruiting.)

I understand that others have said he has been a DC and I realize that, but I believe both of those times he was also the Head Coach. Just took responsibility to call the defense.

I wouldn't mind Ed O as a DC but I don't think he is going to be offered that job.

How have the posters on this board morphed from calling Orgeron the "Ogre" and making fun of his ineptitude when he was HC at Ole Miss to now believing LSU is making a mistake to not consider hiring him? It's ridiculous.

I think this a good scenario:
1- Shoop as DC
2- Brick as LB coach
3- Coach O as DL coach.

Why is everybody afraid of Orgeron?
How badly did his recruiting against LSU hurt when he was at Ole Miss?

If it was O he would not have been name dropping all those recruits on the show the way he was. You can't talk about recruits until they are signed. As far as the show those two are not doing their job

Miles probably afraid of hiring the next interim coach on LSU staff.

He got Michael Ohr ("Big Mike" from the The Blind Side) away from Saban when Saban was at LSU.

That's the only big time recruit I can remember we wanted and he got.

If LSU had any desire to hire him, he wouldn't be in the radio as much as he has. That's his second appearance on that show, among others, in one week. He is getting paid for those appearances and the hosts know a lot of LSU fans will listen.

O won't even be considered for any position at LSU.

Yeah, I agree. I don't want this cat roaming Louisiana for Mullen.

I think he was referring to the people saying he should be the DC.

Doesn't the DC have a say so in who he wants ? i think many of you are overlooking the fact that not allowing the DC to choose may be a deal breaker for a quality DC.Remember how Jimbo was forced to remain OC when Miles came in ? Miles didn't seem to be ok with that at all.

I think its sort of a deal with the devil type thing but i also think thats where the program is.

This. Where this program is in the SEC arms race, we need to make a bold gamble. If the only way to get Orgeron is by making him DC, I'm all for it.

Is that a mistake, given the other options?
