As far as the rest of the OP, I don't want Haley as DC. Our d line has been underwhelming the last two seasons and I was honestly hoping that he would leave with Chavis.

Why dont they just offer him something?

I think Brick is only sticking around to go after the DC job. If he doesn't get it, I don't think he is going to stay.
Miles is going to name a DC and Brick will leave, then Miles can bring in Coach O.
It could happen. lo
Time is ticking and January 15 will be here soon. A decision needs to be made by Friday at the latest imo

Worst coaching staff in the country right here.

This is really going to start fricking up recruiting.

Coach O is pushing hard for Pendergast I'm betting and is hesitant to take the d-line job so quickly.

not sure if you can put to much blame on brick. LSU d-line was very young this year, and look how they improved throughout the year. Maybe you can put that on Chavis but Brick is the one who is primarily responsible for the development of D-lineman.
Plus it would keep continuity on the defense. No needing to have to learn a new scheme, a new playbook. Brick would use the same plays and the same formations Chavis did. There is no guarantee that he would call it as conservative as Chavis did though.
To sweeten the deal it would bring in Coach O which would give us a big boost in recruiting.

I know that USC defense played hard under him while he was interning.

We still have plenty of talent. I'll give DT a pass from early this year, but LSU has had trouble getting to the quarterback the past 2 years.

I didn't mind him when he co-hosted on friday and just said he'd love to be at a place like LSU. But this is in bad taste. Don't talk about specific positions youd be willing to take and don't dangle it out there that Moo State has already contacted you.
If O hasn't been contacted yet, or more specifically his agent; then he's out of luck.

quote:No, it's not. This is a dead period now anyway meaning coaches can't have face-to-face contact with players. I think that ends on January 15. You're hitting the panic button a little too soon.

I'm not going to pretend to know what's going on behind the scenes and what goes in to hiring whoever they are targeting, but I'd really like for this to happen soon.
And then Les needs to name BH starter for 2015.

What is a dead period?
During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period.

I think the issue with the lack of urgency is that once the dead period ends, like Coach O said, it's all about getting with the guys who have LSU in their top 2 and having someone who pushes them towards the purple and gold. As opposed to seeing the elite pushed towards Alabama like we've seen more than a few times over the past couple of years.

I want coach O, but I also want a legit qualified stud DC as well. I hope there was a way for both.

I think the fact that he's saying all this shows that he isn't being considered or at least hasn't been talked to yet.

This is coach talk. Ed would take any position if offered at LSU.
