It's going to be Burrow. This is all window dressing to make it seem like an open competition.

I just can't imagine that there's a head coach in college football that doesn't reserve the right to name who plays the most important position on the field.

You're not wrong.

He's the head coach, so it's his decision to make. It does seem odd to me though, given the fact that way back when he said he was going to let his coaches coach, which was a statement that he didn't live up to .

But it's his funeral if or when things go bad.

Orgeron said he has the final say in choosing a starting QB after getting input from Ensminger and the rest of the coaching staff.

Bookmarked for if/when the qb struggles and O pumpers blame everyone but O.

I agree. He should listen to his OC. Will he is the question for me.

He didn't last year when Canada said Brennan.

Well said. If Canada was so brilliant thinking Brennan should be the starter over Etling and now he’s still not good enough yet to keep us from needing a transfer to upgrade.......? Has the thought ever occurred to some people that maybe if O hadn’t “meddled “ things would have possibly been worse last year?

However this was what first rubbed Canada wrong because he wanted Brennan where O overruled him and said Etling.

maybe so; it seems to me that Canada thought he was completely in charge and that attitude just doesn't gel with reality. it's no wonder Canada doesn't get along with other coaches. he should have made his case and when he "lost" just done the best he could. that happens in every job situation every day.

Why can’t he just trust what the best OC in the country recommends? Just shows you the ego this guy has.

i'm sure it does mean something but it's still the HC's team and rightfully so. while it doesn't matter who was right, I think O was definitely right; Etling gave us the best chance to win. Canada apparently felt Brennen was better and was willing to go through the learning curve with him even if it caused more losses. he may not have realized the pressure to win now at LSU and the SEC in general.

Canada is an arse. But the man knows how to coach and develop QBs. Is he right fit everywhere? No.

I would imagine Canada assumed he would get a chance to prove himself and Brennan in year 2 of the offense with the experience he would have gained may be much better and ready to go this season.

listening to his OC is not the same thing as doing everything the OC says. Brennen was one play away from being the starter all year. when you run an organization, football or business, you listen to your people but YOU make the final decision. sometimes you agree with them and sometimes you don't. it's the subordinates job to accept his superiors decision and do his best to make it work. if you have work experience you would know this; if you don't have work experience you might want to remember it one day or you will get fired.

I keep forgetting, is this a rebuild or not? Seems to switch from time to time.
