"You guys are going to love this group. They're big, they're lean and they're very athletic".

Man I'm jacked already!

I believe he said this specifically about the new incoming recruiting class. I may be incorrect. But, that is my memory of it

This is not meant to bash Aranda because I really respect him as a coach and brilliant defensive mind, but I think you will see a much more dynamic D with Pelini. The reason is not just his aggressive style, but Aranda's D relied so much on varying schemes and nuances that the defense may have been hindered by having to overthink vs relying on talent and instinct.

I remember in 2018 mid season Devin White saying that Aranda was adding some crazy amount of additional schemes/blitzes. That may be more necessary when you need the scheme edge vs superior talent like at Wisky vs tOSU, but sometimes you need to rely on your talent and then simply scheme to your talent.

we had a very poor base pass rush this year. Chaisson was the only guy to consistently pressure the qb. Aranda had to use scheme to get pressure. look no further back than the Delpit sack to stop clemson's 1st drive. Aranda did what he had to do based on what he had. Truly, LSU has had a poor edge rush. We havent had two good edge guys at the same time since the Sam Montgomery days. Its been this defenses glaring weakness over the years

Well Jordy and Coach P basically drove the Coach O to LSU bus.

Matt was honest about the hire and said it was stupid. Like most of us did initially.

Probably that

Because Matt went overboard in his disappointment of O getting the job and LSU not hiring Herman. Also Matt has made fun of O on his show especially in 2017 when things were tough. O will never be on Matt's show you can book it.

The thing is that our front 3 minus Chaisson almost never runs stunts. Not an exotic scheme, but a basic feature for DL pressure.

And honestly (insert whatever excuse of injury or not), I thought Chaisson was good this year but not to the level of the hype he had. People built him up to have a season like Chase Young where he'd be drafted first round and I just didnt see it. I think he's very talented and instrumental in our defense but wasnt insanely dominant.

Take a deep breath and watch Chase's Young's last 4 games and watch Chaisson last 4 and tell me who you would rather have! If you say Young you are trolling!

Moscona messed up with O.

He could have expressed skepticism, but his true-self made fun of CEO.

IMHO, Moscona comes across as very NASTY, with a face to match. His distended nostrils and obnoxious tone led me to avoid his show in perpetuity!! ?? LOL

The biggest concern going into 2020 will be LB positions. The MLB becomes a huge role in a 4-3 defense. Will that be Clark? We've recruited a bunch of 3-4 OLBs so can any of them transition to a 4-3? It's going to be super interesting to watch this in the Spring.

LSU's front 7 is going to be a fricking wall of men though. Look at these measurables:

Shelvin: 6'3" 346lbs
Ika: 6'4" 354lbs
Logan: 6'4" 309lbs
Farrell Jr: 6'4" 298lbs
Guillory: 6'2" 337lbs
Roy: 6'4" 293lbs
Taylor: 6'4" 292lbs

Cherry: 6'3" 264lbs
Moore: 6'4" 246lbs
Thomas: 6/5" 256lbs
Anthony: 6/4" 250lbs
Parker: 6/5" 240lbs

Clark: 6'3" 240lbs
Baskerville: 6'1" 230lbs
Ojulari: 6'3" 220lbs
Sampah: 6'2" 210lbs
Webb: 6'3" 230lbs

From the Bama game on, Chaisson was a fricking force on the field. You're basing this on him not racking up sack numbers like Young did against shitty teams. His two biggest games were against Wisconsin and PSU. Both heavy run teams and PSU was starting a 3rd string true freshman.

He did not have a counter part to rush the passer. He was held with monotonous regularity. Maybe that is the way it is.

Moscona is the only show he will not go on because of how he was treated that first year. Moscona has stated this. It would probably take some major arse kissing for it to be a possibility. Not that I think Moscona is above it, but Orgeron does not really take to kindly to those that disrespect him (i.e. Canada). Moscona is usually good about playing bytes from OTB or whoever speaks with O.

while this is absolutely correct, don't get too hung up in size alone ( ). with mobile qbs, you better have guys that can run. and those mobile qbs are typically in offenses that spread defenses out. meaning that you normally will have to depend upon the dline to apply pressure.

Edit: go back to the '03 team. defensive ends were Marcus Spears and Marquise Hill. Two monsters. You simply do not see DEs that size much more. Offenses are too spread out.
