He likely asked Coach Canada to bring some alternatives to the table.

For instance, we could have linemen shift into their natural positions from an initial reverse set- instead of the opposite- and allow them to play with more certainty and aggression.

Putting more receivers on the field, moving Etling into the shotgun or booting/rolling more from under center and giving greater emphasis to the intermediate passing game (less to the deep, PA plays) have all been discussed at length in the talk shows.

I think we'll see some variation and outright change in our approach on offense. It doesn't need to be radical or earthshattering to produce a marked improvement. We aren't that far away, we just haven't found the answers, to date, but some very bright people are giving it their best.

Suffice it to say it's a work in progress. That said, I think we'll see improvement and gain momentum as the season progresses.

You're too smart to have inferred that. And you're too smart to take O's comments this week to mean he's drawing up plays in the offensive meetings. But, the wins and losses go on his record. He has more at,stake both financially and reputationally. To think he would have zero input is ridiculous. Though much aligned, the OC and the HC have different goals. Canada is looking for success on each play, each drive. O is trying to win the games. And sometimes those slightly conflict. Canada probably wants to throw in the middle of the field on 3rd and 15. O may deem a draw the safer--and more prudent--call relative to winning the game. The object is to win the game, not see how many yards you can rack up. Usually they go hand in hand, but not always.'

Not to mention O probably wants certain players to play(like Stevens) to help recruiting this year and down the road. Canada's probably looking to rank as high as he can and bounce.

Either way, this is all nonsense and O haters looking for another way to shite on him. I didn't want him either, but like it or not, he's the coach, and it's gonna take more than this made up bullshite for me to turn on him. Just be intellectually honest, that's all I ask.

That was the 2min offense but ur point is valid. O is gonn be on the defensive side for the man part. My guess is he may say "We need balance 60-40 range. Or "I want guice getting 20 touches". Etc etc. sure it may be more input with the struggles. Tempo may be suggested but he's a Defense coach so I would guess he wants to avoid the defense on the field to much. Let' the man coach for heaven sakes. It's 4 games and he's 3-1. Our tigers let one go bad. Real bad. But if we lose by 1 its still a loss. New coaches usually struggle the first yr or two. No way am I givIn up on this team or staff. #5-1n2weeks#faaakthetators

People still dwelling on a decision made a year ago.. It doesn't matter now hes our coach and he's 4 games into his first full season. IThere is no way anyone knows what O can do this season and next. We lost all of our defensive production so we are fielding some youth. We have avg Dlineman that are vets with more talented young players that lack experience. If there is anyone to be held accountable imo it's grimes. O deserves the criticism for the Msu game for sure for reasons we've read about plenty. But Playing flat against a Syracuse is common not just for Lsu but many teams. I see it all the time Across college football. It's time for Canada to adjust the offense and I hope it's more shotgun sets. Coach O needs to focus on ST's, penalties, and energizing the team like he did last season. And recruit his arse off. We should not be so down on this team. We replace GG & CL with fehoko & shelvin. That's an upgrade almost certainly. The line play will
Improve and these 17 talented freshman will grow a ton. Qb & WRs is actually exciting to think about the next few years. I still
Have hope

That's very well stated.

Doesn't really do much to quell the apprehension of Orgeron overruling his assistants, especially given his past pattern of abysmal decision making. Additionally, another problem is that Orgeron's not really an authority on any aspect of offense or defense, not over his assistants.

This is totally his offense.” As it turned out, LSU was held scoreless in the first half with the “simplified” offense and scored 21 points in the second half with the shifts and motions back in place.
