ETA: I was misled in one of my searches. Oregon does not issue any warrants for traffic violations period. I know that sounds arse backwards, but it is what it is. Oregon turns your case over to a collection agency or IRS and it becomes a finacial judgment against you. If this kid waits ten years and continues to thumb his nose at Oregon, all charges get scrubbed and vanish as if it never happened.

ETA on the ETA: I'm thinking about moving to Oregon.

Now some one finally gets it.

As far as the cop being corrupt; that is pathetic. He does not and never did have a warrant out for his arrest.

Does LaGarrret Blunt ring a bell, Jeremiah Masoli?? Yeah, program is corrupt. Any other crimnals I missed>
And if you really think Oregon isn't gonna pay his fines, you're even more ignorant than you've proven yourself to be.

If you get a traffic citation, and you don't show up to court, a warrant is issued? How peculiar. You only show up in Oregon if you mean to contest it.

"And if you really think Oregon isn't gonna pay his fines..."

That's silly. Particularly considering the present level of scrutiny.

Again, just to clarify - Cliff had every right not to appear in court - it just means he turns down his right to appeal the fines.

Like Tressel, Weiner, and thousands of others, this is the type of shite that will bite him more than the crime itself--not owning up or taking care of business to fix it immediately.

.......and all fines must be paid in full. No payment plans for him. They will not accept a few hundred here and there. That is gonna hurt.

Happens in every program. Having your kids arrested doesn't make a program "corrupt." It means your local law enforcement doesn't cut the student-athlete much slack.

In Oregon the courts regularly do payment plans.

Only for those that show up for thier court dates. If you do not show up for court, not only are the fines automatic, but they must be paid in full. You are no longer eligible for a payment plan of any kind if you do not attend your court date.
quote:

If the court does not receive your plea by the end of your two week grace period, we will enter a failure to appear judgment against you. A failure to appear judgment makes your entire fine due immediately. Fine reduction or a payment plan are not options at this point. (Note: If your fine in not paid in full within 30 days, you will be assessed an additional fee of either $25 or $50 depending upon your balance due.)

One issue that has been mentioned in this thread is that CH got the car rented for him by a University employee. Is this gonna be an issue for him and the team with the NCAA.
quote:

For Oregon, Harris' wild ride could cost the team one of its best players and possibly result in additional sanctions with Tuesday's revelation that the rented Nissan Altima he was driving when he received the ticket was borrowed from a university employee, who turned over the keys to Harris and two unidentified teammates (who were not cited) almost immediately after driving the car off the rental lot last Friday. Oregon has already opened an investigation to determine whether the car constituted an improper benefit under NCAA rules, and confirmed that the employee — who works in the university's business office, not the athletic department, and is not a girlfriend or any other relation to Harris, according to her interview with a local TV station — did rent the car for personal use. At best, Oregon will escape serious heat from the NCAA because Harris and his teammates reportedly paid the woman at least $300 before taking the car off her hands, and Harris will escape serious heat from various agencies by coming up with some way to pay off the fines. At worst, Harris will be ruled ineligible for accepting an extra benefit from an institutional employee or representative and suspended for more games — possibly the entire season — and/or will face serious legal repercussions for his unpaid fines. Either way, Oregon's odds of returning to the BCS title game just got a little longer.

OU may want to consult Urban Myers on the legal issues.

"Early Sunday morning, Harris was cited in Oregon for driving 118 miles per hour on a suspended license. The car he was driving was a rental, provided to him by a University of Oregon employee."

118 mph with a suspended license in a car provided by a UO employee. Wow, this kid has some testicular fortitude. He is going to be interesting to follow. He lives his life very fast. He can borrow a line from Canseco's earlier days the next time he gets pulled over for 118 mph, which is, "is that it?"
