I don't remember reading any real discussion on this board about this, which is why I'm bringing this up.

This Clemson OLine is very likely the best we have faced this year and quite possibly the best we have faced in the last 2 years.

These guys are huge, a lot of beef up front, but what really stands out is their experience. They have 4 seniors, three of whom have no redshirt years. Their one underclassman is a supremely talented 330 lb left tackle. At least 4 of these guys are likely to be drafted.

I'm not sure how many combined starts they have, but it's nearly the same line that Bama couldn't handle in last year's game with another year of development.

I will not be surprised if Clemson tries to control the clock similar to Florida, but with a heavy dose of power running, to keep our offense off the field. If they are successful on defense and get a couple stops in the first half, and our defense is gassed in the second half, it could become a shootout in the fourth quarter and may be Clemson's best chance to win.

If our front seven can handle their OLine and shut this down early, it may be a long day for Clemson.

UGA had an elite offensive line as well, but our defense shut down their run game.

They were also a huge offensive line. In fact, several publications had UGA listed as the number one offensive line in CFB.

Also, PFF did an end of season OL ranking. They have both UGA AND Bama ahead of Clemson, which they rank seventh.

Yea, but UGA’s starting RB was hurt and Fromm is no threat to run.

Im not saying we can't do it or won't...I think it's more likely LSU wins in a blowout than it being a close game

We have faced better OL’s. Now Clemson’s OL last season, maybe, but this one isnt as good.

That does not change the fact that we won the LOS against UGA. There were typically no holes to run through.

It's hard to say how good they are when they play crap teams all year. Against Ohio State they were getting pushed around, couldnt get TE off in the middle and gave up a few sacks.

Tyler Shelvin, Rashard Lawrence and Glen Logan havent been moved out of the middle all year. The real story will be how we defend the edges against them swinging the ball to TE, running the option and Sunshine the Wondertranny making plays with her feet.

Its amazing how many of Clemsons offensive snaps are plays that are designed to work from behind the line of scrimmage, like short passes, option tosses, etc. LSU loves to penetrate and make plays for losses back there.

Unless they come out in a 4 wide and start chunking it down the field, I think we shut them down pretty good. They have the talent to play a shootout passing game with us, but that is not what they have done all season.

Ranking all 130 college football offensive line situations
quote:

7. CLEMSON TIGERS

Highest-graded player: OT – Jordan McFadden – 88.3 (10th)

Clemson rolled through their tackles like they roll through their safeties, pitting to their strength at the position as well as their positional versatility. Headlined by their tackle and guard play, Clemson's offensive line allowed a sack or a hit on just 3.45% of their 521 pass-blocking snaps, the 26th-lowest rate in the country.

For some perspective:
quote:

3. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

Highest-graded player: OT Jedrick Wills Jr. – 86.6 (14th)

The bookend tackle duo of Jedrick Wills and Alex Leatherwood was a revelation for the Crimson Tide in 2019, as they locked down each side for Alabama quarterbacks. As a unit, the Crimson Tide's offensive line ranked second in percentage of plays that gained positive EPA at over 53%.

2. GEORGIA BULLDOGS

Highest-graded player: OT Andrew Thomas – 92.4 (3rd)

Georgia's strength on offense this year was clearly their offensive line, a unit that ranked fifth in run-blocking grade and fourth in pass-blocking grade. Andrew Thomas and Isaiah Wilson are both headed to the NFL, leaving big voids at the tackle spots in 2020, but their mark left on the nation's second-best offensive line will not be forgotten. Georgia's offensive line helped pave the way for the Bulldogs running backs to average over 2.20 yards before contact per attempt on the ground.

Sorry, I don't buy that UGA is the best OLine that we have faced. I get that they're rated highly on paper. But do you honestly think that UGA is the best OLine we faced all year? I don't.

And LSU at 30th ranked seems pretty low to me for a unit that just won the Joe Moore award.

I'm no expert like many of you guys on this board, but I'm a firm believer that experience and years in the weight room can't be discounted on the LOS, and Clemson has 4 experienced seniors on the OLine.

When is the last time we had 4 seniors on the line? I honestly don't know, but I'm pretty sure it's been a while.

You can say all you want about the competition they have played, but that's not the only reason Etienne is averaging 8yds a pop.

I know our DLine and front seven in general is outstanding, but it could be a factor in the game.
