I think the issue has been more a lack of agreement among the members regarding how to move forward with scheduling/permanent opponents (7+1, 6+3, etc.). The entire format of the 2024 season was always a stop-gap because they couldn’t agree on a permanent format.
There’s also the ESPN aspect, where the SEC wants more money to go to 9 games but the SEC also kind of needs the 6+3 format to make the rivalry games work out cleanly.
Flipping it for 2025 is just a continuation of that. Delaying a permanent schedule format (and allowing everyone to continue playing their rivalry games) while they negotiate internally/externally.

I’d rather not play them at all. I thought all this OOC stupidity would stop when we expanded with adding the top 2 BiG12 programs.

We need to schedule cupcakes outside of the SEC, especially for game 1. Then we might actually win a game 1.
