“He’s told he can’t play football again,” Patrick R. Jackson, Black’s Bossier City attorney, said Friday. “To suddenly not be able to play football, you can imagine how devastating that is for any young man who had his sights on a career in the NFL.”

Jackson filed Black’s civil suit in federal court in Baton Rouge.

quote:

In the Nov. 7 game against the University of Alabama, however, Black received a particularly hard hit to his left knee, his suit states.

Makes you wonder if coaches would have pushed Ciron to play, or would Ciron have hid the severity of his injury to protect his draft status? Or is this a way to make money since the NFL thing flopped?

Hard to imagine a guy playing on a career ending injury for 4 more games

He's suing the insurance underwriters for the policy he took out on himself.

Not relevant. The policy was to protect against injury that would not allow him to be drafted. The underwriters are not paying out, so he's suing.

h paid $14,00 for a 2 mil policy, and he wants that plus another 2 mil in damages for not paying up.

But Hank Watkins, president of Lloyd’s America Inc. in New York, emphasized that neither Lloyd’s of London nor the American subsidiary sold insurance to Black.

“The ultimate discussion will have to be between the plaintiff’s attorney and the syndicate that provided the policy,” Watkins said.

Sounds like he might have gotten conned.

he was playing without an ACL for a lot of his last season. Its hard to get drafted when you can't pass a physical

Nah, these are common. He just named Lloyds on the suit to get everyone's attention.

If he just sued Football Insurance Syndicate, INC...no one would care.

Yeah, I started a thread and had many discussions on here before the draft. I got hammered by the ignoRANTS on here for stating the obvious. It was obvious where this is headed.

They let him play hurt at LSU and he will NO DOUBT go after LSU for damages. Right or wrong it will happen.

And if he was truley hurt and allowed to play on damaged ligaments, then he might deserve something.

Word is he will have to have a knee replacement!!! That means he was injured during the year and allowed to damage it further.....alledgedly!

I tore my ACL during a high school football season. The doctors and coaches gave ME the option to finish the season or not. Believe it or not, but you can play football with a torn ACL. He probably chose to play hurt. You don't misdiagnose a torn ACL.

they misdiagnosed him and he will need knee replacement surgery. Its a little more serious than just tearing your ACL in High School

The article says he has a job in Baton Rouge but won't name it. Anyone know what he is doing?
