Being in the Top 10 puts us in one of the major bowls assigned by the committee. Top 12 depending on how the ACC/Orange bowl deal and the minor conf deal work out. We may not be in the playoff but can still be in a really good bowl and finish Top 10.

LSU is currently #17. Here are the teams ahead of us and who they have left to play:

1. Mississippi State (@#5 Ala, Vandy, @#10 Miss)
2. Oregon (Col, @OreSt)
3. Florida State (@ UMia, BC, Fla)
4. TCU (@Kan, @Tex, IowaSt)
5. Alabama (#1 MissSt, WCar, #9 Aub)
6. Arizona State (@OreSt, WashSt, @#14 Ariz)
7. Baylor (OkSt, TT, #13 KanSt)
8. Ohio State (@#25 Minn, Ind, Mich)
9. Auburn (@#15 Ga, Samford, @#5 Ala)
10. Mississippi (@ Ark, #1 MissSt)
11. UCLA (USCw, Stan)
12. Michigan State (@Md, Rut, @PennSt)
13. Kansas State (@ WV, Kan, @#7 Baylor)
14. Arizona (Wash, @#23 Utah, #6 ArizSt)
15. Georgia (#9 Aub, Charl South, #22 GTech)
16. Nebraska (@#20 Wisc, #25 Minn, @Iowa)

If LSU wins out (certainly doable), I think it looks like we have a shot at Top 10 to 12. A lot of teams ahead of us have tough games left. Doesn't look like any minor conference teams get in. If Fla St. would choke just one time, and end up in the Orange Bowl, that opens up the other slot.

One minor conference team HAS to get in to either the Cotton, Peach, or Fiesta, so one of those slots is unavailable to LSU.

A 3-loss LSU team will not make one of the big bowls. I firmly believe that ship has sailed. I am just looking forward to a nice matchup in one of the other bowls.

How many seasons have one shitty loss to Ole Miss, Arkansas or Auburn cost us a BCS bowl or a major bowl, too many. Hopefully, it won't happen this season, pretty good list.

Not likely, IMO. One thing you forget to mention is that some of the teams behind us could jump ahead of us (if they get those wins against higher ranked teams). We would have to hope A&M is still ranked when we play them.

Ranking is almost meaningless right now all I want is us to win out and face a big name program in a bowl. I could care less what we're ranked because we aren't going to be in the playoff.

Ranking isn't meaningless at all. Getting into the Top 10 helps with recruiting. Being in one of the 6 good bowls also helps with recruiting and is more $$$ (yes I know we share it with SEC). These are both achievable goals!!

I know the Chicken Bowl got kinda old, but it isn't a mid-tier bowl anymore. It is back to being the Peach Bowl, and is one of the 6 major bowls which are rotated every 3 years for the playoff hosts. I would be VERY HAPPY to get a Peach Bowl spot this year (and every year as things stand now).

I think LSU is the highest ranked three loss team, but beating the next two will not improve that spot much, while losing one or both will send LSU down big time. I guess the answer is LSU wins out and a lot of other two loss teams lose to have a chance at a decent bowl.

Take the easy way out and predict a loss.

If LSU loses, he is right.
If LSU wins, he celebrates.

Way to take a stand

If you research my previous posts before the season began, I predicted the losses LSU has and the beating isn't over.

1. The SEC picks the bowls now. We're fricked

2. We don't travel to non BCS bowls. We're fricked

It will be Nashville, Charlotte or somewhere north
