Unfortunately the Bama guy is right. Our defense is gonna be mediocre bc all our players left early. This was gonna be a great team too.

There is no more proven defensive coach at the college level than Chavis. With the possible exception of Saban, but he isn't on the market and Chavis is certainly among the very best in the business.

That said, everyone expected a big dropoff. This is a recruiting and personnel management challenge, not a defensive coaching challenge. Things will be back to normal in the next 2-3 years.

I was kind of assuming it would get back to normal next season

The real problem is no push from the DL. We may need to send the house much more moving forward.

There was obvious confusion with the DBs though. After every TD, whoever got burnt was looking around bitching.

I would kill to have B. Taylor or Reid at Safety this year.

With all due respect, I disagree here. Freak and Ferguson have been getting double teamed in every game. Kinda hard to get push when it takes four opposing OL to contain these guys.

The secondary needs the most work.

Not trying to stir up a hornets nest, just how I see it.

If the DBs are the problem, we need fricking pressure than.

Send 6 and hope for the best.

If the front four is not getting pressure, we have to blitz. I don't understand your post

And leave the entire backfield open and hope for the best?

No. That's not an LSU defense. That's some nonsense Texas would do to stay above water.

Again, no disrespect intended.

If you bring the heat all the time, no one will be downfield to cover WRs.

Yes, I agree. We need to blitz more but to bring it all the time and hope for the best isn't who the LSU D is.

Chavis takes a lot of pride in his work and I trust he'll get that turned around quickly.

No problem that we disagree, but I just am not with you on this.

If the DT are getting doubled, where are the DE?

We have no fricking push at all.

Here is a thought:
Have faith in the Tigers
Dont expect to win EVERY game EVERY year. That is simply unrealistic. We still have as good of a shot as anyone in the country. Dont think for one second that the players as well as the coaches wont do everything possible to get better. Some of the people on here are ridiculous with their negativity!

P.S. I thinks its funny that bama fans come to comment in Tiger rant. We're gonna kick bamas a$$ this year and they know it!!! GEAUX TIGER!!!!

I didn't say blitz every play, just more than we do.

The UGA game was ridiculous. We had no pressure.

That ain't LSU D either

I agree. Where was Jordan Allen? I hardly saw him in the Georgia game.

It was Rasco and Hunter, not dumping on either of them.

Georgia was ready. I hate to say that but they were.

I just can't see us bringing the heat all the time. You risk getting burned on pass plays a la the Georgia game, even though we didn't blitz. But it's the same result.

I'm not about to write off this defense.

it really isnt hard to figure out that a guy like Murray will make zone coverages look stupid when he isnt worried at all about our pass rush.

I love Chavis and all but he did not earn his money last week. He could have turned up the heat somehow to change things up

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

We blitzed most of the time when our CBs were lockin down their islands.

The Chief is about to show us why he is the best. It won't be pretty this year but it will definately not be boring either.

It has needed work since last year, but people acted like they didn't see a secondary problem before last week.

When you cannot generate any sort of a pass rush, qb's far less talented than Murray are just going to shred you. Murray was just playing pitch and catch. Great one's (which Murray is) have to have their rhythm thrown off somehow, and if that doesn't happen, it doesn't matter how good the backs are, they're gonna pick you apart.

You didn't make that IF big enough. Face it, your defense won't be elite this season, but I wouldn't worry right now.

It's super duper awesome we have you here to keep us grounded. Now we can get back to giving up on the rest of the season
