Miles has staked his career on Chavis. Another season like 08 and he is on a steep slippery slope.

That Mauck led team in the SECC game was against Henderson and Haynesworth, Two of the best DLmen now in the NFL.

I want to see Miles stay as long as possible.

Doesn't every coach that makes a hire stake their career on it? If they didn't, I wouldn't want them coaching the team I root for.

Would that be before Saban packs for ND or Penn St?

You're like most other bammer posters on here with no credibility, only biased bullshite who lives to suck NS off. Take your shite to the SEC Rant

We finished #3 in total defense three years in a row, which has nothing to do with points scored on us.

We finished #17 or so in scoring defense.

I'm looking at more than just the Chavis hire. I believe that Coach Miles put togethr a excellent defensive

. I may even be more excited about the Cooper hire. I believe that there's a nice mix of strengths between Chavis, Brick and Cooper. With the talent they have to work with, I'm actually predicting LSU will finish in the top 5 in total D this year.

Agreed all the way around roygu.

Could we have hired a better DC than Chavis? I think so.

But could we have hired a better name or reputation? Probably not any better and after the season Les had last year he needed a name guy.

I guess the bottom line is can we win a MNC with Chavis as DC? I think we can. Heck, we won with Pellini and a defense that played consistently poorly the last half of 2007.

My whole point in starting this thread was not to brand Chavis an incompetent. He is quite competent.

I just have been reading posts where you'd think he's the second coming. Well most of us sure didn't think he was when we were playing against him..at least I know I sure didn't.

lack of adjustment to us basically running the QB option/draw pretty much the whole second half

I remember this...we were sitting in the stands screaming for the draw on every down. i think we only ran it every other down....they never stopped it.....we were 20 feet from Jill Arrington...she looked hot

I never once made any argument comparing Pelini and Saban.

The defensive side of the ball has a major upgrade. Looking at the Spring game w/o blitzes and stunts. They gave up no big plays. Just think about what they will do with the full package.
