Word is the Clearinghouse will uncover something on Benton. Miles would NEVER come out and say this. He'll just take the hit.

The proof will be when/if Benton ever plays a down at Auburn. Stay tuned.

Actually DB was supposed to be enrolled this Spring but once again didnt qualify. So he told Coach he will make it next time.. (For about the 4th time) You are a fricking retard if you dont believe that Miles wanted to give him a chance but had to take the lessor of the two evils when RR said he wouldnt come if DB did. Why would you lose RR who is qualified so you can take a 5th chance on an obviously stupid kid who cant get his shite together? DB has been given every opportunity and was given the opportunity to go someplace else by Miles when he yanked his scholly the day before. You act like Miles knew RR's feelings for months. Miles would have been just as dumb as DB had he taken DB and let RR get away only to see him not get qualified for what the 3rd year?

This is coming from the recruiting board:

quote:

"I heard an interview with our (Auburn) newly signed TE on JOX Wed. morning and he said he has known for 3 weeks that Benton was signing to Auburn. He said one of our coaches told him that Benton had committed on his recruiting weekend with Auburn but asked that it not get out until signing day. I also heard later that he was concerned that his grades might not come though from his high school if they knew he was not staying in state. Apparently his coach or school advisor is not fond of kids leaving the state to play for other schools."

We'll see what eventually comes out, but some may want to stop bashing Les Miles over this.

Bashing anyone in this situation is not productive for LSU! There are many very good people out there that have academic limitations...DB is just one. That's no reason to bash him. CM was placed in a very tough spot and he did us prowd. RR had personal issues that none of us fully appreciated. Case closed! Get over it! Move on!

As far as I can see, everybody played within the rules. Jackson has the right to change his mind about a verbal, and there is nothing wrong with a secret verbal. Also, Miles can withdraw an offer anytime before itis accepted, and Benton can commit to Auburn anytime he wants.

Sounds like Benton and Randle had agreed not to compete against each other at LSU.

But don't let me interfere with your great little immature college geek pissing contest--

you forgot to add: when did Peveto leave LSU? and when did JJ decide to go to TN? and when did JJ (and/or his dad) decide to switch the story they were feeding LSU?

Believe me, JJ was my favorite recruit this year, but bottom line he did not have deep ties to LSU. His dad going north, mom in California, nothing to keep him here..in fact he never really connected with any one coach on the LSU staff. He and his dad are REALLY close to Oregon, so he went where he "knows" someone..no big deal..but should have come out and said that.

Benton's scholarship wasn't pulled...in fact it was offered 2 years ago. LSU admins have been asking for updates for months..about 3 weeks ago, they didn't get the work and course material they were asking for and this is when the "Auburn" stuff started up. The RR and DB thing is not true! I'd be embarressed if I "signed" with a school 3 times and still couldn't get in..now he gets a couple of more chances to get into Auburn...but from what some admins tell me..he'll probably not enroll into Auburn this Summer...
