re: Chances we host?

Zero chances of hosting, but a win can hopefully get us to a 2 seed.
This is very important because if the #1 seed in the region we are paired
with loses, we could host the super regional. This has happened for us
a few times when we were a 1 seed but not a national seed.

Does the selection committee even consider Conference Tournament games in the selection process outside of if you win the whole thing? It seems like they use season record only.

IMHO if we get a 2 seed and win a Regional by beating a Superseed we could displace that Superseed’s right to host a Super Regional and become Super Regional hosts ourselves....
Doesn’t work that way starting this year. They will now rank the top 16 seeds (all regional hosts) with the top 8 being the national seeds who get super regional host if they advance. If a national seed is beat in their regional, then the top 16 seed regional host they are paired with would host the super regional assuming they advance.
In other words, LSU would need to win its regional and also have the regional host from the paired region lose in order to stand a chance of hosting a super regional. Not outside the realm of possibility; but a small chance.
I’m just happy they are finally playing well and hope they can carry some of this momentum into the tournament.

I asked this same "what if" question yesterday and got shite from the rant mob for daring to ask such a stupid question. I might as well have asked if it was OK to beat puppies with hammers. As is typical around here there are no stupid answers, just stupid questions. I'm with you, this is not as remote a possibility as many would have us think. Arkansas and Ole Miss both won only 3 more regular season SEC games than we did. And if we beat Ole Miss today...

Lol, yesterday you said it was a stupid and ignorant question, no?

Ouch. I assumed people would be knowledgeable enough to know it was sarcasm. Just in case, I threw in that #2 overall national seed, to really take it over the top. You just started started watching baseball this week huh?

They won’t send lsu to Stanford or Oregon state and basically reduce lsu travel to family only. Texas, USM, or somewhere that most fans can teavel is what they will do so the lsu fanbase can drastically increase attendance in those regionals
This has ZERO to do with how they pick teams for regionals. ZERO. They seed teams 1 through 16, then try to figure out a way to bus as many teams as possible to those sites. I can promise you that it has nothing to with how many tickets one group's fans will buy. The amount of tickets LSU fans might buy is peanuts to the NCAA. They are looking to have to buy as few plane tickets as possible for teams who have to fly places.
In summary, the NCAA baseball committee does not exist solely to please LSU baseball fans and their needs and desires.

Truth. We all know the NCAA hates LSU.

People wonder these things because the intricacies of college baseball seeding and tournament rules is ambiguous to say the least. There aren't many blessed with your knowledge and mastery of the subject. It's probably a good bet I've been watching baseball for longer than you've been old enough to eat crawfish.

If LSU beats Ole Miss we host.
If LSU loses to Ole Miss we still might host but may not be 1 seed in our Regional. I think this run by LSU is already impressive but if they win the Tournament they host.

My personal preference would be
1. UConn
2. Minnesota
3. Southern Miss
4. Texas
5. Florida State

Really. Very interesting.
Do you people just ignore plain, visible facts when you post your hot takes? None of what you said has a greater than 0% chance of happening.
Your scenario might be viable if this was 1994, but how they select teams and host sites is just a little different now.

USM’s rpi is worse than ours. They aren’t hosting.
