Chad Jones has not done enough on either the baseball or football field to even be in the top 10 of the best recruit ever at LSU.

I am just as big a CJ fan as any LSU fan, but these type of threads are ludicrous.

After this years football season, come back and maybe then we can talk.

He hasn't really even been better than Jared Mitchell.

That's your opinion. Others feel differently. Pitching in the CWS Final & playing for the 2007 Football National Champs & earning Freshman All-American honors is very special.

CJ & JMitch are the first 2 atheletes in LSU history to win a NC in Football & Baseball.

I am not saying it is not special, but they are not near the level of the "best recruit ever."

They are two of the only players in the COUNTRY, not just at LSU.

They may have played in both, but just being on the team does not equal superstardom.

Chad Jones wasn't a starter on the championship team in football and he has produced more in football than in baseball. Mitchell saw limited time at best in football and was an integral part of the baseball team.

If you compare just those two at this point, then Mitchell has done more than Jones.

This thread is way premature.

Jared Mitchell - class of 2006
Chad Jones - class of 2007

Why are you trying to compare a Pitcher to an Outfielder & a WR to a Safety & then coming to the conclusion Mitchell has "Done more"? More what? They weren't even in the same recruiting class for starters.

Mitchell caught more passes than Chad Jones, but Jones had more Tackles & Pass Deflections? Seriously? Makes ZERO sense to attempt to compare players at vastly different positions & in different sports.

How many batters did he face in the CWS?
He also played on one of the weakest LSU defensive backfields since Hookfin was playing.

Don't get me wrong he is exciteing and talented but he has a lot to prove before he can be rated as "best ever". I hope he proves to be that good.

How did you feel about Justin Vincent after the 03 National Championship? JV's performance in the championship run exceeded CJ's to this point. IMO

I think he has potential as one of the best. The SJPW sack for fumble and his strike outs in the deciding game of the CWS..

A few more moments like those and Osama bin Saban will be claiming he got him to go to LSU

I like CJ alot but best recruit ever. He is just a sophmore. The jury is still out. Billy Cannon, Shaq, Pistol Pete, Kevin Faulk, and many more. He didn't even start last year in football. He may become the best recruit, but he is not there yet or even close.
