What I take away from that link is that Big12 had a tougher conference schedule at.700 than the SEC. Also that it is the first time I have seen quantitative numbers for OSU being the second best team at the time. ESPN blows on Nicki's jimmy fact.

I have no problem with this. It's nice to at least have a computer recognize that we were the best team that season. The pollsters gave Alabama every pyscological advantage then raved about how they must have been the better team all along.

really?

The previous link showed the standings after the NC. But the below link showing the standings heading into the bowls shows similar quantitative numbers in favor of Okie as second best. Unfortunately, silly considerations such as SOS and wins vs. ranked teams meant far less to voters than did the brilliantly in-depth "eyeball test".

It's kinda crazy to think with ALL the talent those USC teams had 03-05 that they don't "officially" have a BCS title LOL poor Trojans...

Bama, Notre Dame and Oklahoma have claimed national championships in the past with less to base it on than a misprint.

No, that was documented at the time, it was just ignored by ESPN.

What happened to us concerning our bowl matchup was plain unfair. There's no other way around it. It was unfair to Oklahoma State and every other FBS school other than Alabama. It was unfair to every other conference in FBS college Football except the SEC.

Sometimes life is unfair.

However, I would not change our path to that game for Bama's for anything. I would not want a tainted BCS trophy sitting (shattered) in our clubhouse. As a fan, I would not want to have to spend the rest of my LSU fandom having to say "21-0" over and over as a means to prove that my team actually belonged in that game. Just because Bama won that game doesn't mean they deserved to be there. The end result does not justify the means.

That being said, I have to remind myself that life is unfair. I rest in the fact in knowing that my team did not have resort to politicking to "earn" its way into a championship game. We earned our spot by going through our schedule plus the SEC championship game undefeated.

CLAIM IT!!!! Bama claims 73 when they lost the Sugar Bowl to Notre Dame...

They can claim all they wont before the 1998 season. Before then there never was a national champion. None of the parties had authority to claim a National Champion. Teams never agree to it until 1998 season.
