LSU coach Ed Orgeron has been named one of 18 semifinalists for the George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year, the Maxwell Foundation Club announced Wednesday.

He deserves every ounce of this recognition because he's done a very good job this season.

But another poster shows this is what they really care about instead of congratulating the coach on his performance this year.

No Jimbo? He has a "true rebuild" and an awesome 7 wins.

That doesn't make it not true.

Coach O gets trashed daily on here.

You keep using the term “true rebuild” like it means he should have already rebuilt the team.

I don't disagree with that, but IMO, when people put that in their OP it just invites more of the bullshite. Just be proud of the coach and list it as an accomplishment and then if anyone tries to come and diminish that, that's when you tell them how dumb they are.

No man, Justice says it's a true rebuild. I'm just puzzled at how he's not on the list since he did such an amazing job changing the culture at A&M.

Here is another one already starting to make it a divisive thread.

A few very deserving candidates on that list. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Dino, Leach, Kelly, Fickle or Stoops won it. I also think O has a decent chance of at least becoming a finalist depending on the outcome of the game against aTm. It wouldn't surprise me if he won it either.

Countless people referred to LSU as a rebuild and Orgeron took over a better program and the first year thing was used over and over as an excuse. Now, people want to put down a coach in his first year on the job with a worse situation.

Les Miles has actually won the award, and we fired him.

Look man, I'm as much a fan of Les as anyone else, but just because you win that award doesn't mean you shouldn't be fired. As long as Les continued on running that offense that he and Cam had, he was going to continue putting LSU in a bad position to be successful. I hated seeing him not make a change and it ultimately cost him. But, just because he won it, does not mean he should have stayed on as coach.

One of the biggest problems is that we hired him for O, someone who's running the offense further into the ground than Les did.

We've done well this year, could've done better, could've done a lot worse. Need to keep Aranda and get an OC for next year before signing day to keep the ball rolling.

To not divert from the OP

O did a great job this year.

We gotta finish strong and the. Asses the weaknesses, but I think He’s shown he isn’t going to just drive the program into the ground. He’s won some big games.

Nah. People that have been talking trash the last two years are going to hear about it. Getting the people that have been having to read that shite everyday to not mention it...GOOD LUCK.
