You forgot that the SEC also plays a conf. championship game too.Besides that you were honest enough to compare the overall schedule

Why are Ohio State fans even on this board.

Because we enjoy this site and I go on the other boards (MSB, OT, SEC, Movie) much more than this one now.

We do have truly awful out of conference foes. I know there are good reasons for this (money, tough conference, inablility to get big teams to play us) but it still screws the fans that are forking out moolah.

Yes, if LSU were to get there, that would also be (this year, at least) a very tough game, too. However, we don't know if they will get there.

You are welcome anytime , just not to flame like some of the OSU fans do . They have short memories
PS we know our OOC games suck , remember we have to pay to see Troy and N. Tex state, to be able to get tickets for the Georgias and Bamas and every other year Fla and Auburn home games

y should we schedule a tuff OOC game, it doesnt make any sense. if OSU didnt schedule USC this year it would have been an embarrassing schedule. well, stil kinda is

quote:

This is my opinion of the two schedules:

OSU:

One very tough game (at USC)
One difficult game (at Wisky)
Three challenging games (PSU, at MSU, at Illinois)
Two "potentially" challenging games (scUM, Purdue)
Five easy games (at NW, Minnesota, Troy, Ohio, YSU)

LSU:

Two very tough games (at UF, UGA)
One difficult game (at Auburn)
Two challenging games (at South Carolina, Bama)
Two "potentially" challenging games (at Arky, MSU)
Five easy games (Ole Miss, App St, Tulane, Troy, NTU)

I don't know about you, but I think that's a pretty fair assessment (based on now, obviously, this could change as the season goes on, as we find out more about the teams). So each team has the same amount of easy games, "potentially" challenging games, and difficult games. LSU has one more very tough game and OSU has one more challenging game. Based on this (which I know you'll disagree with, but oh well), LSU's schedule is a little more difficult, but not by a huge margin.

i think that was a fair assesment.

but. if you take off USC; you have NO very tuff games, and only ONE difficult game. thats why i said it was embarrassing. OSU had to schedule USC. LSU doesnt have to schedule a tuff OOC game. that was my point

college football is first and foremost...about entertainment. no one's saying we have to play the USCs of the world every year, but the OOC slate this year is inexcusable from a fan standpoint and if it prevents us from being where we ought to be come the end of the season, it is inexcusable altogether.

LSU FANS want to see the team have a great season

how great will it be if we end up in the same situation we were in last season, only to get left out because of a dogshit OOC schedule? Because that's where we'll be. People who think we're a cinch to be in the title game if we win the SEC need to get a reality check. Because the fact that we won the whole thing last year has ZERO bearing on this year...ZERO. The fact we jumped so many spots on the final BCS standings had a lot more to do with the arse kicking of VT, than it did winning the SEC. We don't have that card to play this year. I see people brush off the OOC slate and talk about running the table in conference. Well, when was the last time we did that? And not that it can't happen, but the fact that it's been so long illustrates just how hard it is to do.

No need to get uptight about having a weak out of conference schedule once in a while. We had a strong one last year. It doesn't diminish our team or take the sparkle off either of our crystal footballs.

Are OSU people still on this board talking smack? Holy crap, how many butt whoopings does it take before they shut up and admit to mediocrity and an annual free pass to the National Championship game! OMG

OK, fair point. But it's not like we're a "lock" to go to the NCG game if we beat USC (and after last year, we should all know that even the games that appear the easiest are no gimmes). And FWIW, I think the Big 10 is on the way back up, which I'm happy with.

Our OOC schedule doesnt look flashy by name only, but Appy beat Michigan (who ended the year beating FL), and Troy was an 8 - 4 team last year.

When you play the preseason no. 1 (Georgia), and go on the road to play 2 top 11 teams, plus play at least 2 other teams that will be top 25 (AL, SC, Miss St.), then I dont think you need to play any more ranked teams OOC.

I enjoy watching LSU play powerhouses from other conferences, but the name of the game is getting to a BCS bowl. Cant play the entire top 10 and expect to do that.

what! every columnist in the nation gave us no credit at all over our win against VT at the end of the season. everyone said "VT is a completely diffrent team now than when LSU beat them."

im sorry but winning the sec was more important than beating VT on week 2 last year

Makes some sense.

But I KNOW you were thinking hard about listing scUM with NW, Minnesota, Troy, Ohio, and YSU.

If you didn't beat VT, they would have only had one loss, though, and would have been in over you.

I would just like one OSU fan to acknowledge that if they were in the SEC they would not be whipping FLA, AU, LSU, TENN, and GA every year and getting to the NC. OSU would be lucky to EVER get to play for the NC if they were facing those teams every year. It is a complete joke that that USC and OSU keep getting all the respect they get given that they play in lame conferences and refuse to have conference championship games. We all know why they refuse...because they know they won't be given a free ticket to the National Championship anymore. Its so obvious that is what is going on.
