Of these four games, which one do you think was the shortest game time wise and which do you think was the longest?

Oregon - Oregon St
Texas - Texas Tech
Ole Miss - Miss St
LSU - Arkansas

I just DVR the games and ff thru the endless commercials. Of course, since I'm over a thousand miles away, it's my only choice. I can see how it would drive you bat shite crazy if you were in the stadium. Last game I saw in Tiger Stadium was Ole Miss, 1970, the "Orange" game. Yesterday, I turned off my phone(so no one could play spoiler), went skiing in Santa Fe(best early season conditions in 40 yrs; come on out) and watched like it was live around 4(without commercials). Were I a betting man I would have taken the Pigs and 24, but I learned a long time ago that whatever side I bet on is going to be the wrong one.

You are spot EZE Tiger. Needless to say now living in Big Sky country and have to watch on TV but even on TV , its brutal. CBS has taken what should be at most a 3 and one half hour game and easily goes between 4 and 4 and a half hours. ::Unbelievable.

I find that Fox has better and more enjoyable coverage than CBS. It seems to me that the picture is of better quality. The camera angles are way better. Also the commentary is way better and less annoying than Verne and Gary, but that's not hard to do. I wish that the SEC would have got Fox instead of CBS to do our games.

I agree. Being at the game was almost miserable. There was a period of about 30 minutes with barely any football. After a big play momentum would die.

Alabama-Auburn game just now. 3 minutes, 4 seconds break between plays. They came back after 2 minutes, then proceeded to show a slow motion replay, and the "tools for success" for another 60 seconds.

Meanwhile the stadium is

I hate CBS coverage; too many commercials. Too much Verne and in general a bad game-day experience in the stadium because of the excessive commercial time-outs. And that's not to mention a general destruction of any game-time tempo for the opposing teams being televised by CBS.

BUT, I am wondering and probably I am the only one in the world who doesn't know the answer to this question: What will happen to CBS coverage of SEC games once the SEC network opens up in 2014? Could it be possible that we've seen the last of Verne and Gary? Could we all be that fortunate?

CBS just talking about going back to game. Now back to the game and the bands are still playing. Of the 5 other games that started at 2:30, 1 game early 3rd quarter, 3 late 3rd quarter and one into the 4th quarter.

Its ruined any hope for the wife enjoying football with me. She says the games last way to long and she's right. Just go ahead and put advertising on the white apron around the field similar to hockey ads on the boards and cut the fricking timeouts

It's amazing that television networks can make infinity dollars broadcasting soccer and they don't have to ruin the flow of the game to do it. If they figured out how to do that with fairy ball they should be able to do that with football.

Games on CBS with commercials or pay per view with no commercials? Be careful what you ask for.

I vote for pay per view. Maybe more people would show up for the games.

We had four games on ESPN this year. They averaged 3 hours & 36 minutes in length.

We had five games on CBS. They averaged 3 hours & 29 minutes.

Huge tv contracts require more commercials to pay for them. Just the way it is. On the other Hand several nationally televised games are great exposure for Tigers

ESPn hasn't quite reached the level of CBS yet. But the blueprint is there.

They can take momentum away and put everyone to sleep while doing so.

I will argue that fans are at the top of the food chain. When we began to target advertisers and boycott them it will compel CBS/ESPN/SEC to limit commercial delays. But until there is an organized response they have no reason to limit delays.
